Drew had two goals as Norwich downed the Lions 6-3 in a GNAC quarterfinal. Senior forward Drew Dilley registered a hat trick, and three other Cadets scored goals to lead the Norwich University men's soccer team past Emerson, 6-3, in a GNAC Tournament quarterfinal game on Saturday afternoon at Howard Field.

With the victory, top-seeded Norwich (15-2-1) advances to the GNAC Tournament semifinals, where the Cadets will host fourth-seeded St. Joseph's (Maine) on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The Cadets and Monks played to a 1- 1 double overtime tie during their regular season meeting back in September. The start time for this semifinal contest has not been determined at this time.

Dilley scored the first of his three goals less than eight minutes into the match, corralling an excellent crossing pass from senior forward Rob Harlow and beating the Emerson goalkeeper to put the Cadets on top, 1-0, at the 7:38 mark.

Less than 20 minutes later, Dilley made it 2-0 when he scored off a feed from senior forward Ryan Boyton at the 27:09 mark. Harlow increased the NU lead to 3-0 in the 39th minute when he scored an unassisted goal at the 38:59 mark.

Emerson (7-10-2) got on the scoreboard three minutes later as Eric Dabdoub netted an unassisted goal of his own in the 43rd minute.

Sophomore defender Jon Amell restored Norwich's three-goal advantage in the final minute of the first half, as he scored an unassisted marker. Amell's goal made the halftime score 4-1 in favor of the Cadets.

Dilley completed his hat trick in the 60th minute when he tallied his 16th goal of the season off an assist from Boyton to make it 5-1.

Emerson's Jon Carr pulled the Lions to within 5-2 in the 77th minute when he took a feed from Dabdoub and scored.

Norwich freshman midfielder Nick Micucci scored his first career goal in the 84th minute, taking a nice pass from Amell and breaking away.

Dabdoub rounded out the scoring, tallying his second marker of the game in the 87th minute.

In a game featuring plenty of offense on both sides, Norwich outshot Emerson 23-20. Norwich junior goalkeeper Charles Maxwell made seven saves in the Cadets' goal to earn the victory.
