October 29

12:45 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - A Northfield resident called to report that her daughter was receiving text messages from another resident of Northfield who had been told to leave her alone. She stated that her daughter had received four text messages from the other individual and wanted some help getting that person to leave her alone. The victim is going to provide a written statement concerning the incident so that the appropriate action can be taken.

9:50 a.m. - Agency Assistance

Police responded Lovers Lane in Berlin to assist Berlin PD with a motor vehicle versus train accident. The operator of the vehicle was transported to Central Vermont Hospital with minor injuries and her vehicle was totaled. The operator failed to see and her the train and pulled onto the tracks and was struck by the on coming train. There were no other reported injuries and the train had minor damage.

9:21 p.m. - MV Complaint

Police received a late report of a motor vehicle collision that had occurred earlier in the day. Police assisted the operators with the exchange of information, and with the completion of DMV crash reports. There was minor damage reported from the collision.

9:42 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance- Police responded to Dickenson Drive for a concern about an individual's welfare It was advised

that the individual left the residence by vehicle & was possibly intoxicated. Police found the vehicle on Dickenson Drive, where it returned to the residence. Police checked her welfare & found that she was 'OK', but it was determined that she was DUI. She was arrested & charged for the offense.

October 30

12:34 p.m. - Accident PD

Police responded to a three vehicle accident on North Main Street. There were no reported injuries at the time of the accident. It was stop and go traffic due to the ongoing construction on North Main Street. Operator one was not paying attention, saw

traffic start moving, accelerated and hit a stopped vehicle, pushing that vehicle into another stopped vehicle causing damage to all three vehicles.

1:59 p.m. - Fraud - A Northfield Falls woman, age 22, was issued a citation for 11 counts of forgery and 11 counts of petit larceny. She admitted to stealing and forging her parents name to checks and cashing them in area businesses. She forged 11 checks worth a total amount of $393.82. She was issued a citation to appear in the Washington County District Court on 11-13-08 at 12:00 pm to answer the charges.

5:12 p.m. - Burglary

Police received a complaint of a theft from the grey building. The complainant advised that a young male had entered the building on Sunday and stole some weight watchers cookies. Police spoke with the suspect but he had a witness stating that he was with her the entire day. The incident is under investigation. Total value of the cookies was ten dollars.

9:21 p.m. - Animal Problem

Police took custody of a dog that was found by a citizen. Police located and contacted the owner, who then came to the Police Department to pick up the dog.

October 31

12:38 a.m. - Traffic Hazard

Police responded to Vine Street for a report of items blocking the roadway. Upon arrival, Police removed the items from the roadway and set them onto the shoulder of the road. Police checked the area for anyone suspicious, but were unable to locate anyone in the area.

4:27 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a complaint of a possible abuse prevention order violation. The complainant advised that a female was near her son and the abuse order states that she can not be near him at all.

7 p.m. - Phone Problem /Harassment - Police Department received a report of an establishment receiving harassing phone calls. The caller advised that he kept receiving phone calls from an intoxicated female. Police

received the number that the calls were placed from, and investigated the issue further.

November 1

12:44 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police Department responded to Union Street for a report of a citizen dispute. Upon arrival, Police found that one party was attempting to leave the residence after being 'thrown out.' Police spoke with the individuals involved, and ended up assisting the individual in leaving the residence. A Berlin Police Officer responded as back-up, and he brought the individual to a residence in Berlin for the night.

12:58 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to Union Brook Road for a complaint. It was advised that a residence's window had been shot with a BB gun. Police responded and found that the window was struck by a paint ball. Police assisted the homeowner by washing off the paint, and it was determined that there was no damage to the residence.

8:07 a.m. - DLS - A man from Orange, age 29 was arrested for driving criminally suspended. The man was stopped for having defective equipment, a broken windshield. Girard stated that his license was under suspension for DUI and Middlesex Dispatch verified that he was criminally suspended. He was issued a citation to appear in the Washington County District Court on 12-4-08 at 12:00 pm.

12:41 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - Officers responded to the Northfield Falls Trailer Park for the report of a citizens dispute. The primary argument was over the property line. Officers spoke with the parties involved and attempted to resolve the conflict. The two neighbors aired their grievances, and agreed to make changes to facilitate being good neighbors.

2:39 p.m. - Overdose - An officer responded to a residence on Vine Street to assist the Northfield Volunteer Ambulance Service with an over-dose patient. The officer assisted with loading the patient and resumed patrol duties.

7:16 p.m. - Agency Assistance - Police responded to Norwich

University for a medical call. Security called and asked for assistance with two subjects who reportedly took too much over the counter cold medicine. Upon our arrival rescue personnel had arrived and advised that the situation was

under control. No police action was necessary.

November 2

12:30 a.m. - MV Complaint - Police located a disabled vehicle on Vermont Route 64. Police stood-by with the vehicle until the owners were located. Upon their arrival, the vehicle was removed from the roadway.

1:543 p.m. - Unlawful Mischief - The department was advised that there had been damage done to a vacated building on Vine Street. The original chandeliers on the porch of the Delary House had been broken. If anyone has any information regarding this disrespect for others property, please contact the Northfield Police, 485-9181.

7:47 p.m. - Unlawful Mischief - The department received a report of a house that had been hit by paint balls. There was no permanent damage. The caller had heard the noise and a loud car muffler. Did not see which way they drove away on Chandler Road. If anyone has any information regarding this act of unkindness, please call the Northfield Police Department 485-9181.

November 4

8:15 a.m. - Unlawful Mischief - The department was advised that a house and car on Vt Rt 64 had been hit with paintballs sometime over night. The caller had just found the mess as they were going out to work. They did not hear anything during the evening.

8:25 a.m. - Unlawful Mischief - A caller advised that someone had paintballed their house on Union Brook Road during the evening. If anyone has any information, please contact Northfield Police, 485-9181.

10:42 a.m. - Unlawful Mischief - The department was notified of another home on Chandler Road that had been hit by paint balls. No permanent damage.

1:30 p.m. - Found Property - On the night of Halloween, a citizen of Northfield found a Canon digital camera on S Main street. After calling to see if anyone had been looking for it, she brought it to the police department. It can be claimed by the owner.

6:40 p.m. - Citizen Assist - Police along with the Montpelier Police Department assisted a citizen getting home. The subject had been stranded in Montpelier and was trying to get back to Northfield. Officers were able to assist by transporting.
