Corey Dukette Is Cleared

The Northfield News

In October of 2007, we reported that Corey Dukette, 31, of Northfield was arrested after the police stopped his car following an alleged failure to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Wall and Water streets.

Mr. Dukette and three other passengers in the car were allegedly on their way to a Halloween party and were in costume.

We reported that the officer was suspicious that he was driving while intoxicated. He refused to take a breathalyzer test at the scene and was then put under arrest.

On October 27, 2008, Judge Patricia Zimmerman of the District Court dismissed the case following the grant of a motion to suppress evidence and dismissal.

The court found that the prosecution was unable to prove that Mr. Dukette did not stop at the stop sign and therefore, the officer had no probable cause to arrest him.

In the concurrent civil suspension proceeding to take his drivers license, judgment for Mr. Dukette was granted and there will be no further proceedings in that regard.
