Winter Fest is an annual event at Lotus Lake in Williamstown on February 7.

Paula will be singing from Noon to 1 p.m.

The day begins with a dogsledding demonstration with Joan Neeley and her team of Siberian huskies.

This will include a brief talk about the history of dogsledding, sled dog care, and an introduction of the friendly four footed athletes.

The musher will demonstrate running a team of dogs. Finally, the dogs are reattached to the dog truck and participants can take a place on the gangline to see what it's like to pull a sled like a sled dog or be a musher on the back of the sled.

For those people big and small with lots of energy, there will be a "dogsled" race with two sleds.

After dogsledding, folks can choose to warm up in the indoor heated meeting room or outside fire, or embark on a snowshoeing and animal tracking trek.

The 300 acre property offers opportunities to see signs of wildlife from the dainty tracks of mice to the precise tracks of red fox.

An outdoor fire will be burning throughout the entire event to warm up by and to cook hotdogs and s'mores over at lunch.

Lotus Lake Discovery Center will have food for sale. Hotdogs, chili, s'mores, hot cocoa, and other snacks will be available to purchase.

Sledding, ice fishing, and boot hockey will be going on (weather permitting) say the promoters.

Throughout the day folks can also purchase raffle tickets for a cord of maple fire wood. Tickets can be purchased for $10 or 3/$25.

After lunch Al Wilder of Brookfield will lead an ice harvesting demonstration. Participants will have a chance to use the authentic tools to pull out their own block of ice.
