Leo J. Hebert, 82, Stone Cutter
Leo J. Hebert, 82, died Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Mayo Healthcare in Northfield.
He was born in East Hampton, Massachusetts on March 4, 1926, the son of Arthur & Rosemond (Courtemenche) Hebert.
He is a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army in the Asian Pacific Campaign.
He married Jean Evelyn Berno in Northfield on May 30, 1948. Mrs. Hebert died January 20, 2007.
He worked as a stone cutter for Rock Of Ages Granite in Barre, retiring in 1991, after 40 years of service.
He and his wife, owned and operated an elder care facility, "Jean's Nursing Home" in Northfield for many years.
He was a member of St. John The Evangelist Church in Northfield. He enjoyed fishing and boating on Lake Champlain, barn dancing and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his eight children, Peter Hebert of Northfield, Susan Ajaz of King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, Michael Hebert of Albany, New York, Anthony Hebert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Bonnie Hebert of Barre, Kim Hebert of Alexandria, Louisiana, Max Hebert of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tracey Hebert of Rochester Hills, Michigan; three siblings, Joe Hebert, Irene Martin, Yvonne Rocheleau; eleven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Jean , he is predeceased by his brother, Marcel Hebert.
There are no calling hours. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. John The Evangelist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mayo Healthcare Activity Fund, 71 Richardson Avenue, Northfield, VT 05663. Kingston Funeral Home in Northfield is handling the arrangements.
