NORTHFIELD POLICE REPORT

February 18

11:19 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to Jackman Hall Norwich University for a possible assault that occurred the week before. Police spoke with the complaint and collected statements from all parties involved. Police will be following up with school officials to find out what they are doing before any charges are brought.

10:34 p.m. - MV Complaint - Police responded to the intersection of Cresent Ave and South Main Street for a motorist assist. Police assisted a motorist who had gone off the traveled portion of the roadway and was stuck in a snowbank. A local wrecker was contacted to assist the vehicle from the snowbank.

February 19

7:56 a.m. - MV Complaint - Police responded to a reported motor vehicle into the guardrails on Rte. 12 South, south of Fiddlers Green. When Police arrived, the vehicle had already left the area. There was no damage to the guardrails and no further action was taken.

4:41 p.m. - MV Complaint - Police stopped a vehicle on North Main Street for no inspection sticker. At the time of the stop, it was determined that the vehicle was not registered, plates were not assigned and it was not insured. Tickets were issued for all three violations and the vehicle was towed by Todd Jones Towing.

7:51 p.m. - Accident PD - Police, Fire and Rescue responded to the area of Vt Route 64 for a reported motor vehicle crash. One operator was transported to CVH as a precaution while the other operator had no injuries as a result of this two vehicle crash.

February 21

5:17 a.m. - Search Warrant - Police Officers started an investigation concerning a Fugitive from Justice reported living within the Town of Northfield.

12:40 p.m. - Phone Problem /Harrassment - A resident of K T Lane came to the police station to report having received harassing phone messages from an ex boyfriend. She advised she had told him to stop calling and had even blocked his number from calling her phone. She advised she had received between six and seven voice mails within the last half hour from him. I called the accused and cautioned him about disturbing the peace through use of electronic means.

4:31 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - A concerned citizen called the police to report some suspicious activity near the South Village Mobile Station. The officer could not locate any criminal activity.

4:54 p.m. - Phone Problem /Harassment - Police received a complaint of a harassing phone call received. The caller reported that an individual called and was using foul language and very irate. No threats were made and a record of the call was made.

4:56 p.m. - Lockout - Police received a call from a

person on the Norwich Campus who had locked themselves out of their car. Norwich Security was contacted and was able to assist the driver in getting into her car.

February 22 3:19 a.m. - DUI - A man, 22, of Nova Scotia was arrested for DUI when his vehicle was stopped on VT Route 64 after Police witnessed it speeding and weaving. Officers could detect an odor of intoxicants coming from Anderson. He submitted to field sobriety exercises, and a PBT. The PBT determined that he had a BAC of .102%. He was taken into custody and processed. He later refused to submit to the Datamaster, and he was arrested.

10:49 a.m. - Accident PD - An officer responded to the National Guard Armory for the report of an alarm activation. The officer met with a soldier who reset the alarm.

1:35 p.m. - 911 Hangup Call - Police were dispatched to a 911 hang-up call on Houston Street. The caller was reached shortly thereafter and advised there was no emergency, a child had been playing with the phone.

1:20 p.m. - Unlawful Mischief - An officer responded to a business in Northfield Falls for the report of some property that had been graffitied. The officer photographed the graffiti. The graffiti appeared to have been done in marker and would wipe away.

4:40 pm.. - Alarm - An officer responded to an alarm at the National Guard Armory. The officer met with a soldier who happened to be there. The soldier reset the alarm.

5:56 p.m. - Agency Assistance - A Northfield Officer responded to a residence in Williamstown to deliver a notification. The request came from a resident of Northfield who could not get in touch with a relative. The message was delivered.

10:25 p.m. - Juvenile Problem - Police responded to a house on Union Brook road for a juvenile who was reportedly out of control. The juvenile was detained and brought to CVH to meet with a mental health screener. The juvenile was ultimately transported to Woodside by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

February 23

8:42 a.m. - Accident PD - An officer responded to Rabbit Hollow Road for the report of a minor motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival I met with the operators and observed very minor scuff marks on the rear driver's side quarter panel. Insurance information was exchanged. Pictures of the marks were taken as well.

12:02 p.m. - Animal Problem - An officer responded to a residence on South Main Street for the report of two loose dogs. The complainant further advised she had been bitten by one of the dogs, which were tied up outside. The dog catcher could not be located. The officer took the dogs, and confirmed with the veterinarian's office that the vaccinations were up to date. The town health officer was also notified of the complaint.

February 24

1:58 p.m. - MV Complaint - An officer received a motor vehicle complaint about an incident that occurred at the Northfield High school. The officer is attempting to contact witnesses, and will then speak with the accused reckless driver.

8:14 p.m. - Animal Problem - Police responded to a residence on Cross Street for an animal problem. The caller reported that at least one dog was being left outside despite the cold temperature. Upon arrival it was discovered that the dog had been taken inside.
