NORTHFIELD POLICE REPORT
February 25
3 p.m. - Citizen Assist - An officer was asked to respond to a residence on North Street to assist with a landlord and tenant dispute. The parties were advised of the civil court and proper channels to resolve the problem.
7:44 p.m. - Agency Assistance - A death notification was made in person to a resident of Northfield at the request of the Berlin Police Department.
February 26
12:09 p.m. - Illegal Burning - Police responded to the area
of Jarvis Lane for the report of someone burning trash. A caller advised the smell was noticeable on Central Street. There were no visible fires or smoke coming from the area.
1:20 p.m. - Animal Problem - Police responded to the area
of North Main Street near Cumberland Farms for the report of two loose dogs. One of the dogs was caught. The owner of the dogs was located and issued a written warning for the loose dogs.
10:20 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police assisted Rescue with a medical emergency, the subject was transported to CVH by ambulance.
February 27
3 p.m. - Citizen Assist - A local landlord came to the police department with photos of an apartment. The last tenant that had recently moved out and left the state of Vermont reported damaged doors and walls. The landlord was advised of avenues to attempt for restitution through a civil court.
8:24 p.m. -MV Complaint - Police were notified about a possible LSA on South Main Street. The officer was informed that one vehicle had backed into another and had left the scene. The officer responded and found no damage at all on the vehicle. No further action necessary.
10:11 p.m. - Theft - Police started an investigation concerning a report of missing/ stolen U.S. currency collected from a function held at Norwich University.
February 28
12:11 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police were notified that an intoxicated male was trying to gain entry to a residence. Officers arrived and found a man, age 21, on the front porch. The residents said he had come inside through the front door. He was taken into custody for Unlawful Trespass and lodged for the night at Barre City until sober. He had a BAC of
.190.
1:33 p.m. -MV Complaint - Police Department responded to Slate Avenue for a report of two dirt-bikes being driven upon the highway. Police responded but were unable to locate anyone riding dirt-bikes in the immediate or surrounding areas.
7:20 p.m. - Noise Disturbance - Police responded to a residence on Cross Street for a barking dog complaint. Upon arrival the dog could be heard barking in the fenced in back yard area. The house was dark and no one answered the door. A visit with the homeowner will be attempted again.
7:44 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police Department responded to a disturbance on South Main Street. A verbal altercation had started to get out of hand. One of the parties involved had left the residence on foot and returned while officers were still there. An investigation is underway.
10:48 p.m. -Sex Offense - The department was advised by a Rape Crisis representative of possible sexual assault in Northfield. Under investigation.
March 1
12:17 p.m. - MV Complaint - Police Department responded to the area of Slate Avenue for a report of youths riding dirtbikes upon the roadway. Police located them on Kent Street and warned them about their disruptive behavior. It was suggested that they find a different place to ride, so they would not disturb the flow of traffic and near-by residents.
1:18 p.m. - Litter/Pollution/Public Health - Police Department responded to a report of littering on Terry Hill Road. Upon arrival, Police found various objects strewn about at the roadside. Police examined the documents, but were unable to find any documents linking an individual to the incident. At this time, there are no suspects. Anyone with information is urged to contact the

March 2
11:08 a.m. - Fraud - Police Department spoke with a Northfield Road resident about a credit card fraud issue. The resident had already notified the appropriate credit card agencies and credit bureaus, and a fraud investigation was already being conducted by the issuing credit card agency. The resident wanted a police report started to document the incident, and in the event any criminal charges were filed.
1:30 p.m. -Lost Property - Police Department responded to South Main Street to meet with a resident about a missing item. Police took the report and began an investigation into the matter. On the following morning, the resident reported that he had successfully located the item after having left it at a hotel in Brattleboro. All was in good order, and the investigation was closed.
3:08 p.m. - Accident PD - Police Department responded to South Main Street and Prospect Street for a minor two car collision. Upon
arrival, it was determined that a vehicle had slid into the travel portion of South Main Street when the vehicle couldn't stop at the stop sign on Prospect Street. The slippery road conditions were attributed to the cause of the crash.
An operator was ticketed for having an expired inspection since June of 2008.
4:11 p.m. - Citizen Assist - Police Department responded to Vine Street to meet with a resident regarding some suspicious activity
surrounding one of his rented properties. Police took note of the observations and documented them in the event there is any further incidents.
4:15 p.m. - Accident PD - Police responded to University Drive for a report of an L.S.A. Upon arrival, it was determined that an unidentified vehicle had struck a parked vehicle in a parking lot on the Norwich University campus. The vehicle sustained minor damage to the front passengers side fender as a result of the collision. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Northifleld Police Department at 802-485-9181.
10:04 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - A Norwich Student reported her front license plate from her car as missing. The plate was last seen on the vehicle on Thursday, February 26th, 2009. There is some minor damage to her front bumper that suggests the plate was torn off the car. That damage was not present on Thursday February 26.
March 3
1:56 a.m. - MV Complaint - Police responded to VT RT 64 for a motor vehicle complaint. A truck had slid off the roadway due to the slippery conditions and needed to be pulled out of the ditch. North Main Service was contacted and got the motorist back on her way.
8:58 a.m. - Lost Property - Police spoke with a Union Brook Road resident in regards to a missing wallet. The resident had lost the wallet approximately a week ago somewhere in town, and was unable to account for it. Police documented the report in the event it is turned in. If anyone has recently located a missing wallet, please notify the Northfield Police Department at 802-485- 9181.
1);02 a.m. - Animal Problem - Police were notified of an animal problem on Dickinson Drive. Police learned that a dog was running loose in the area and was defecating on several resident's property. Police responded but were unable to locate the dog. Police will attempt to locate the owner of the dog in an attempt to address the animal control issue.
2:38 p.m. - Wanted Person - Police Department located an individual at a Vermont Route 12 South establishment who had an outstanding
arrest warrant. The individual was identified and taken into custody without incident, and was later lodged at the Barre City Police Department for lack of $256 bail. The individual was also found to have operated a motor vehicle without liability insurance, and was ticketed for this offense.
