On Tuesday, March 3, 2009, Jasper, the well known and much loved Northfield cat owned by Charlie and Ellie of Videos and More, passed away of kidney failure with his family beside him.

Jasper took up residence with Charlie and Ellie at Videos and More on Water Street in June 1997. He was about 9 months old and he had an attitude right from the start. He could never decide if he wanted to cuddle you or chew you up. But he was a handsome boy and was adored by many store customers.

Jasper was not your ordinary mouser. The local mice were his friends, and he shared his food with them. His favorite candy was "Fizz." He liked to "nibble" on customers, but Charlie says he always stopped at the bone. Jasper was special.

He became good friends with Bud his "dog brother." Every so often they would tear out of the office, Bud chasing Jasper all over the store. He loved sitting on the computer, possibly sending email to long lost relatives. And he like to sit on Charlie's mother's lap in her wheelchair as she rode around the store.

We would like to give Dr. Mollica and his staff at Randolph Animal Hospital a special thank you for the loving care they gave Jasper in his final days. Many Northfielders have fond memories of moments spent with Jasper. He made us feel happy and we will miss him. We love you Jasper.
