The Police Station

2009-03-12 / Letters

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS AS A TAX PAYER I have several questions stemming from my hard earned dollars being spent in this community.

I voted and supported the building of the new police station, and do not look back on this decision. However I am rather confused in the process of taking over this building by the town of Northfield from EF WALL.

I've spent the last 5 years in major construction along the east coast, and I have concerns with what I see taking place.

After walking by our new cornerstone of the community the other day I couldn't help but notice that there was a 5" to 6" layer of ice forming on the eave of this building.

Ice dams occur when snow accumulates on a slanted roof of a building with inadequate insulation and ventilation in the attic.

To me, this is acceptable in some of the older houses found around town, due to the construction materials available at the turn of the century; however not in a new building.

I would like to know what the town is doing to protect our investment as a community.
