Sanders v. Shaw

2009-03-12 / Letters

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS SEEING CHIEF Shaw on the front page dedicating the new Police Station to Burt Sanders is like déjà vu.....Senator, you're no Jack Kennedy" was a phrase spoken during the 1988 United States vice-presidential debate by Democratic vice-presidential candidate Senator Lloyd Bentsen to Republican vice-presidential candidate Senator Dan Quayle. Jack Kennedy was a reference to John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. Since then, the words "You're no Jack Kennedy," or some variation on Bentsen's remark, have become a part of the political lexicon....Chief Shaw...you're not Chief Sanders! I once met with Shaw and he looked me straight in the eye and lied...and I'll never forget it. How pathetic and tragic to see this photo...and no matter who supports him or how much money is raised in his defense, the truth will come out and triumph.

What goes around...comes around...Chief Shaw.
