Moot Dedication

2009-03-12 / Letters

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS IWANT TO THANK the Northfield officials and all the people of Northfield for recently honoring my Dad, Dick Moot, by dedicating the Town Annual Report to him.

My Dad loved immeasurably the people of Northfield. Lest someone get confused, every single day he wore his "I Love Northfield" buttons on both his hat and his jacket! He truly cherished his Northfield friends, co-workers, employees, and neighbors.

In 1994, on the 50th anniversary of my Dad's graduation from college, he and all his classmates were asked to share an update of themselves and their lives. Understandably, many wrote about their various successes, or those of their children. But not my Dad … here's a small part of what he wrote about, because it was so close to his heart:

In Northfield, we enjoy the climate, the geography, and the great people around us. They care about the kind of person you are --- not whether or not you went to college, where you're from, or what great accomplishments you can claim.

So on behalf of my Dad, my sisters, and my Mom, please accept our sincerest thanks for this wonderful honor. It's treasured by all of us.
