WORCESTER, Mass. - The Norwich University men's lacrosse team ushered in its 2009 campaign Saturday afternoon with an 8-5 loss at Becker. The Cadets led 4-1 midway through the second quarter, but the Hawks scored seven of the game's final eight goals to pick up the non-league victory.

Josh Fask scored a gamehigh four goals and added a game-best two assists to pace Becker (3-1). Aaron Fill added three goals and one assist for the Hawks.

Tyler Woods and Tyler Nicoll each scored two goals apiece to lead the Cadets (0- 1).

Woods and Nicoll both scored goals in the first quarter to help Norwich to a 2-0 lead following the opening 15 minutes. Woods and Nicoll each netted second quarter goals as the Cadets built a 4-1 advantage with 8:16 to play before halftime.

Becker erupted over the final several minutes of the second quarter, scoring three unanswered goals to tie the game at 4-4 at the intermission.

The Hawks scored the first two goals of the third quarter to move in front 6-4. Brandon Rankie scored later in the third quarter to pull Norwich to within 6-5 going into the final frame.

Becker scored the only two goals of the fourth quarter to put the game away.

Ryan Leroux played the full 60 minutes in goal for the Cadets, and he made 11 saves on 19 shots.
