Lotto Warns Of Scam Phone Calls

The Northfield News

The Vermont Lottery is warning people of fraudulent telephone calls claiming they have won large cash prizes.

Lottery officials this week received two complaints from residents of Michigan and Florida who said they had received telephone calls claiming they had won large cash prizes from the "Tri-State Lottery". One of the calls was traced back to a cellular phone number in Jamaica, of the Greater Antilles Islands, with a recording that said "Welcome to Tri-State Lottery and Sweepstakes." Tri- State Lotto is made up of the Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine lotteries, and is not calling players regarding any prizes.

If someone receives one of these fraudulent calls, they should not give out any personal information and contact The Vermont Lottery at (802) 479- 5686 or 1-800-322-8800 (in Vermont).
