Cadets Fall To Castleton in Lacrosse

With the loss, the Cadets fall to 0-3 for the season. Kevin McCarthy scored a game-high six goals and added a game-best four assists to help Castleton to a 13-3 victory over Norwich in a non-league men's lacrosse game Thursday afternoon at Howard Field.
The Spartans, who have won three straight games, improve to 4-3 on the season. The Cadets, meanwhile, drop to 0-3 on the year.
Phil Barry added two goals and two assists for Castleton, which jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first quarter and led 8-2 at halftime. Michael Martinez chipped in two goals and one assist, while Jake Rick pitched in one goal and three assists.
Kyle Marzeoti, Craig Van Yahres and Kevin Young each tallied goals for Norwich.
Ryan Leroux started in the Norwich goal and made seven saves in the first half. Nathan Proctor played the entire second half and stopped three shots.
Michael Mamunes made 13 saves in 49 minutes, 46 seconds of work for the Spartans.
Castleton was 3-for-5 on its man-up opportunities, while Norwich was just 1-for-14 with the extra attacker. The Cadets outshot the Spartans, 39-34. NU won 10-of-18 faceoffs in the game.
