NORTHFIELD POLICE REPORT

April 1

12:12 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to a residence on Water street for a suspicious incident. A resident reported that her car had been vandalized in Barre and she knew who committed the act. Information was obtained and the complainant was informed on how to handle the report. Barre City was notified of the situation.

5:57 a.m. - Theft - Police were notified of a burglary to a residence within the town. A investigation has started and is on going. police ask that anyone leaving their residence for any extended amount of time to contact the police so that their property can get checked while they are away.

1:59 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to a parking lot of a North main Street business in which it appeared that two male subjects were attempting to break into a motor vehicle. Upon arrival to the scene the subjects were identified and it was determined that they had locked themselves out of the vehicle.

April 2

1:05 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Officers responded to a residence on Vermont Route 12A for the report of three males who were yelling loudly. The complainant was concerned they may be fighting. Upon arrival in the area, Officers heard no loud noise. One male was observed standing on the porch of a residence, who quickly went inside. Officers spoke with two other males, who advised there had been no problems. They were advised of the complaint.

10:24 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police commenced an investigation concerning a report made to DCF concerning a matter of Child Abuse and or Neglect. The case is under investigation.

9 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - An officer responded to a residence on Belknap Street for the report of a disturbance. The complainant had called 911 because her neighbor was allegedly harassing her. Upon arrival the officer spoke with all parties involved, and restored peace.

April 3

10:26 a.m. - Theft - A Northfield resident came to the Northfield Police Department to report a theft of a iPod from his unlocked and parked motor vehicle sometime over the night.

2:17 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police took a report from a resident reporting Identity Theft in which a email account was opened in the residents name without permission.

7:40 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - Police received a request to help mediate a child custody conflict. The male complainant advised that he wanted to take his kids for the night and his significant other was refusing his request. After a period of turmoil at the residence, a temporary agreement was established for the night. both parties were advised that if they wanted sole custody of the children that they should get it court ordered.

April 4 1:49 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to Water Street for a report of a person attempting to steal items from a motor vehicle. The complainant advised that he heard someone open up his vehicle and dump a tool box. The complainant advised that he ran outside and saw a male in the parking lot. Police located the male individual and he stated that he was at the apartment building visiting his girlfriend at the time of the incident.

2:41 a.m. - DUI - A male was arrested for suspicion of DUI. She was observed traveling on Vine Street without headlights on. The officer smelled a strong odor of intoxicants while speaking with her. She was transported to the Northfield Police Station where she submitted a sample of her breath as evidence, which indicated a result of .134% BAC. She was released with a citation to appear in Washington District Court on 4- 23-09.

1:08 p.m. - DUI - A woman, age 35 of East Randolph Vermont was arrested for DUI. She was reportedly operating in an erratic manner on Rte. 64. Police stopped her vehicle and officers detected a moderate odor of intoxicants emitting from her. She was taken into custody and had a BAC of .134%. She was issued a citation to appear in the Washington County District Court on 4- 23-09.

April 5

3:54 p.m. - Accident PD - Police Department responded to Vermont Route 12 South for a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, it was determined that a vehicle left the roadway and struck at tree because the operator was experiencing a medical emergency. The operator was transported to the Central Vermont Medical Center by the Northfield Ambulance Service for treatment. The vehicle sustained very minor damage from the incident.

April 6

6:59 p.m. - MV Complaint - Police arrested a man for possession of marijuana. He was stopped for erratic operation of a motor vehicle and admitted to having the marijuana. He was cited into district court in May to answer the charge. He was also issued Vermont Civil Violations for: Operating with a Suspended License, Starting Parked Vehicle, Plates Not Assigned and No Insurance

April 7

7:04 a.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Police Department received a report of a domestic disturbance on Pearl Street. A neighbor advised that she could hear loud yelling, and was concerned for the wellbeing of the residents. Upon arrival, Police found that the involved individuals had separated and that no physical altercation had taken place. Police offered counsel to those involved, and provided alternatives to engaging in heated arguments.

7:41 p.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Police responded to a residence in Northfield Falls for a family fight. Upon arrival it was determined that the altercation was only verbal and everything had calmed down. No police action was necessary.
