15th Annual Mud Season Variety Show at Chandler

The Northfield News

RANDOLPH - Doggone it…it's mud season again! But you won't have to dig too deep to find the fun at the 15th Annual Mud Season Variety Show. Friends and neighbors have been "boning up" their acts to be presented on Friday and Saturday, April 17 and 18 at 7:30 p.m. at historic Chandler Music Hall in downtown Randolph.

Audiences will be entertained by nineteen acts with members ranging in age from thirteen to sixty-something. They will share their talents of song, dance, musicianship, comedy and more. There will even be a few four-legged creatures begging for your attention. Rondo the Wonderdog and Lovely Luna have kept their acts a secret so far, but they may make you roll over in your seats when they take the main stage.

Two-legged acts will arrive from thirteen area towns. New to the Chandler stage will be entertainer Thom Hartswick from Underhill, a cappella vocalist Linda Ide from South Ryegate and guitarist Ken Mahren from Stockbridge. Also debuting at Chandler are gypsy swing guitarists Greg and Aiden Ryan of Rochester, Randolph's Karen Warner singing country and a bit of gospel from Nancy Wuttke and Shelie Richardson. New teen performers include poet Katie Jickling from Brookfield and Randolph's Samantha Perkins on piano.

A bit of humor will be shared by acts with such pet names as "The Eccentrics" with Shari Dutton, Ravel Allen, Lindsay Meyer and Janet Whitlock. A heartwarming family act with Zoe Gaby-Smith, Nina Gaby, Craig Smith, Hannah Butterfield and Dawn Butterfield will touch you with "A Little Schmaltz on the Side". "Somewhere Out There" will be performed by locals Chris Smith, Lindsey Warren and Marvin Rogers.

Solo teen vocalists include Amanda Ukasick in "Morningside", guitarist Alison Turner with an original, Mellisa Vella of Ascutney and the Randolph based band "MOOT" (Steven Neas, Kane Sweeney, Eli West and Michael Potvin) with "DPV"( Dylan Blanchard) . Lauren Soares will present a dance on toe like no other!

Tom Hill returns from Nova Scotia with a new parody "Moonrocks". The stage will heat up with two groups; Cloggers In Motion and the return of the Green Mountain Cloggers Exhibition Dance Team will make you beg for more!.

The night's parade of acts will be handled by emcees Randy Garner and Tom Harty, with assistance from Janine Reeves and Tracey Rotman. The evenings will be dedicated to Danny McIntyre who was a well-loved local musician and hearty supporter of the Mud Season shows.

The Randolph Senior Center will provide intermission refreshment sales in the gallery each night.

Saturday night's performance will be taped live by Orca Media and shared with patrons over their television cable network.

Chandler Center for the Arts produces this variety show for the benefit of the extended community and also as an important fundraiser to support programming at Chandler throughout the year.

Reserved seat tickets can be purchased by calling Kathy at 802-728-6464 at her home between 3 - 6 p.m. weekdays, or online at the Chandler website: www.chandler-arts.org. It's highly recommended that you make a reservation ahead of time to assure that you get the best seats. The box office at Chandler will be open by 5:30 the night of the shows.
