Same Sex Marriage

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS

Now that the decision process has past and the result is unfavorable to the majority

of our residents, we must ask ourselves if our local elected officials should be held accountable at the ballot box. Last week all five of our Senators and local Representatives

voted in favor of the gay marriage bill, and the Democratic senator, representative, and

astonishingly, our Republican representative voted to override Governor Douglas' veto.

Then, when I wrote our Democrat representative Maxine Grad telling her that as a consequence I would like to see her defeated, the smug response I received was "Best of luck finding a candidate."

Hopefully, in our district we can find candidates who more accurately reflect the wishes of a majority of the voters. The time to start planning is now and the time to forget is never.
