Liberal Weasel
TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS FOR THE PAST eight years, Senator Leahy has opposed the Bush administration on everything. If Bush said it, Leahy was against it. Leahy has played this to the extreme. If Bush said that Leahy was right on a particular issue, he (Leahy) would argue that he was not right. My opinion is that Leahy is a liberal weasel. Now that Bush is no longer in office, he does not know what to do with his time. We lost 600,000 jobs last month and have been averaging that since Obama became president, the economy is in shambles and Leahy is inept at handling these problems. Therefore, he reverts to what he does best, attack Bush.
He is now attacking Bush on the issue of torture. It is my opinion that there is no doubt that torture takes place in America. I am not talking about water boarding or other enhanced interrogation techniques done to the detainees. These detainees are terrorists. They want to kill Americans. Leahy and the other liberal weasels want to call it torture, to try to extract information from them to protect the citizens of the United States. They feel that the only interrogation techniques should be based on the "Army Field Manual." Based on these techniques, they could not get me to admit that I am left handed!
The torture that takes place in America is spousal abuse. Everyday, thousands of women are beaten mentally and physically. Their crime is not wanting to kill Americans. The only thing they are guilty of is not having supper ready on time or not having their hair fixed properly, or just because they are there. The techniques used by our government referred to as torture, did not cause broken bones, not even a break in the skin, and certainly not death.
The detainees that the liberal weasels want to protect have it far better than even those who guard them. They have spit in a guard's face, without repercussion. Their medical treatment far exceeds the treatment available to the guards. We are all tortured by having to listen to Leahy spin things for the sole purpose of making Bush look bad. This is classic misdirection on the part of Leahy. It takes the attention away from how poorly our president is handling the economy.
During the campaign and to the present day, Obama has promised 3.5 or 4 million jobs. This figure varies from speech to speech. What he does not tell us is that these jobs are going to be within 10 years. Further, he claims these as being "green jobs." Fact is, we have lost an average of 600,000 jobs per month since he became president. These jobs are not necessarily green jobs, but jobs of every color of the rainbow. If the trend continues, the 4 million jobs that he has promised are going to be absolutely necessary, and will net us a deficit of approximately 2 million jobs. The worst of this is that the massive spending that the liberals have been torturing us with will put an extreme burden on future generations.
Our own Vermont legislature is following Leahy's misdirection tactics. The news headlines today state, "Economists say Vermont facing 'Great Depression'." What they are working on is cell phone usage in a car, seatbelts, sexting and gay marriage. I am telling Leahy and our legislature, WE NEED JOBS. Get to work on that and stop futzing around with your liberal agendas.
