NORTHFIELD POLICE REPORT
June 3
7:08 a.m. -Animal Problem - Police were advised of several dogs running at large. Police attempted to locate the dogs who were gone upon arrival. Police are attempting to identify the possible owners of the dogs so that they are aware of the Northfield Dog Ordinance.
12:21 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to a residence in= which someone had entered the residence. Upon talking with the complainant, it was determined that the person who entered the unlocked door had the wrong apartment.
4:53 p.m. - Found Property - A Northfield resident came to the police department with property that had been delivered to his home in which he had not ordered. The commercial delivery people were notified by the resident and have since failed to pick up the miss shipped item after two weeks.
9:09 p.m. - Noise Disturbance - Police responded to Wallace Road for a reported noise complaint. When Police arrived they did not observe the reported violations. No further action taken.
June 4
9:31 a.m. - Agency Assistance - Police, Fire and rescue responded to a reported trailer fire on First Street in the Northfield Falls Trailer Park. Several neighbors in close proximity to the fire were asked to leave their trailer for fire safety reasons and did so without any delay. The trailer was a total loss.
3:24 p.m. - Citizen Assist - An officer spoke with a parttime custodial parent who will be having visitation this weekend who had some concerns about the visitation and the fact that the other party may not allow visitation as authorized by a Family Court Order. Spoke with the other party involved and appears that the violation will not happen.
5:59 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police took a complaint concerning property that had been taken and not returned. Police made contact with the people holding the property and the property was returned.
10:05 p.m. - Threatening - Police received a complaint of a group of kids threatening another male individual. The complainant advised that he was at the memorial park when a car load of teenagers made threats towards him stating that they know he is the one breaking into cars and that they would beat him if they caught him. All parties involved were spoken to by police.
June 5
10:45 a.m. - Citizen Assist - Northfield, Fire and Rescue participated in the review and critique of a fire drill at a local business. The three public safety departments spoke with the employees concerning public safety in the workplace afterwards.
5:30 p.m. - Disorderly Conduct/ Noise - An officer took a report of a road rage incident. The caller stated that as he was driving on Rt 12 another operator pulled out of a side road and almost hit him. Both operators stopped and exchanged words. The caller wanted it reported that he felt threatened.
7:09 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a complaint of kids harassing another kid. It was not an ongoing situation and police got a statement from the complainant on the situation. No charges are expected to be filed.
June 6
5:38 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police Department responded to a North Main Street business for a report of an individual was loitering and panhandling. Upon arrival, Police located the subject nearby and found that he was trying to get to New York City. Police gave him a ride to the Park and Ride on VT Route 64 so he could attempt to secure a ride further towards his destination.
8:09 p.m. - Agency Assistance - Police responded to Jones Brook Road in Berlin to assist Berlin Officers attempt to locate and apprehend Individuals riding ATV's and forcing vehicles off the road. The ATV's had left the area by the time of our arrival.
10:23 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a report of a suspicious person and vehicle in the area of the Rt 12A apartments. The caller wanted the police to be aware of the operators suspicious nature. The vehicle and driver were identified.
June 7
2:43 a.m. - Agency Assistance - Police responded to Williamstown to assist Vermont State Police with an active domestic. Police were informed that a female was running around the neighborhood naked and covered with blood yelling, screaming and banging on doors. While en route, police received a report that she was attempting to cut her throat. When police arrived, both parties were placed into protective custody.
7:33 a.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer responded to Interstate 89 to assist the Vermont State Police by removing a large piece of wood obstructing traffic in the northbound lane, just north of the exit 5 on ramp. The officer removed the debris without incident.
9:48 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police Department received a report of a possible vandalism from a Union Street resident. The resident advised a garden decoration had been broken on Wednesday or Thursday evening. The resident was not sure if this was a deliberate act, or if the recent windstorm caused the damage. The resident wanted to report the incident none the less.
10:29 a.m. - Fire - Police responded with the Northfield Fire Department to North Main Street for a report of a brush fire. Upon arrival, the small fire was determined to have been set by juveniles playing with a lighter. Police and Fire officials spoke with the youths and educated them about the dangers of fire and playing with lighters and matches.
4:21 p.m. - Accident PD - Police Department responded to Norwich University for a motor vehicle collision. Upon arrival, a vehicle had accidentally backed into an iron gate. Both the gate and vehicle sustained moderate damage as a result of the incident. A crash report was completed for the operator.
6:54 p.m. - MV Complaint - Police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Water Street. While backing out of a driveway a vehicle struck another vehicle that was parked. There were no injuries as a result of the crash and the vehicle owners were given the necessary paperwork to file with DMV.
9:35 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to a dispute call on Mill Street. Upon arrival it was determined that the dispute was only a verbal argument between girlfriend and boyfriend. Everyone had calmed down and no police action was necessary.
June 8
4:54 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - The department received a report that there was a vehicle parked with its engine running outside their residence. The officer will attempt to contact the owner of the vehicle from the description given.
11:32 a.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer received a report of an operator of a vehicle that was driving all over the road. The operator was stopped and the officer realized that the individual was having a medical emergency. The ambulance was called and the operator was treated for hypoglycemia.
11:59 a.m. - Burglary - An officer responded to a report of a break in on North Main street at a business. The police is investigating the
incident. There was nothing taken during the break in.
6:06 p.m. - MV Complaint - Police responded to Champlain Farms for a motor vehicle disturbance. A customer had struck the ICE machine in front of the store and then left the area. Pieces of the vehicle were left behind. The employees are familiar with the subject and provided a name. An investigation is underway.
10:39 p.m. - MV Complaint An officer was asked to respond to the Frost Road and Loop Road area for a gray vehicle with a spoiler that was racing up and down the road. The officer identified the vehicle. Tickets will be issued for the violation.
June 9
8:52 p.m. - Citizen Assist - Police responded to a residence on Water Street to stand by while a resident collected some of his personal belongings. He wanted to ensure that nothing happened while he was at the house.
