In Your Backyard
I find myself pondering the beauty that this land holds. Trees as tall as the eye can see and rows and rows of green mountains like the waves of the ocean splashing against a vast horizon. I also find myself thinking what it is that I can do to not only protect but to keep this land as beautiful as it was always meant to be. The answer is to inform you the reader and the public and to educate in all this environmental.
My name is Shannon Rizzotto and though new to Vermont, I am seasoned in practical and helpful environmental care that you can do right in your own backyards.
I grew up not far from Northfield in the Adirondack Mountains, the small little town of Tupper Lake and from a young age I learned a great deal in regards to this vast wilderness we all call home.
I have often asked myself what it is about this area that keeps me in want for more and I believe it is the fresh air, shimmering clear waters and the large and magnificent array of plants and animals. Vermont boasts some of the most amazing of creatures from the tiniest of snails to the great stride of the Moose. Wild and yet simple and yet still it is our job to keep it that way.
Each week I will write on a topic and as we read and learn together we will grow just like a tiny seed and as we nurture not only each others minds but this beautiful land as well, we may quite possibly once again gain not only a better understanding but a respect for Mother Nature and all she has to offer. Please send questions or comments to,
