Louise Halsted, 89, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2009 from complications following a bout with pneumonia.

During her long life, she gave generously to a large number of important causes in and around Northfield.

She was born in Northfield on March 27, 1920 and was the daughter of John and Alethe Davis and granddaughter of C.M. Davis who had been one of Northfield's premiere attorneys and industrialists. She graduated from Northfield High School in 1938 and the University of Vermont in 1942.

Services have not been set but are expected to be at the United Methodist Church in Northfield at 10 a.m. on July 18.
