NORTHFIELD POLICE REPORT
June 24
9:30 a.m. - Juvenile Problem - A Northfield Highway Department employee reported that young children are playing and riding motorized toys at the gravel pit in Northfield Falls.
1:15 p.m. - MV Complaint - Police took a complaint from a resident who was reporting a specific speeding vehicle going up and down her road. Police responded to the area and conducted speed enforcement.
2:40 p.m. - Fraud - A former resident of Northfield contacted the police department and reported that she just found out one of her bank accounts (credit cards) had been compromised in 2005. Police have started an investigation.
9:56 p.m. - DUI - A man, age 21, of Northfield was arrested for DUI, attempting to elude police, furnishing alcohol to a minor, and for an outstanding arrest warrant . Police attempted to stop the man on Frost Road for not having operation tail lights. He took off and eventually stopped a mile or so down the road. He had a BAC of .128% at 23:32 hours. He is cited to appear on 7-9-09 at 12:00 pm to answer the charges.
June 25
12:52 a.m. - Noise Disturbance - Police responded to a reported noise complaint on Kent Street in Northfield Vermont. Police arrived and observed that a small party was ongoing in the residence but police did not observe a noise violation. Police observed the situation for approximately 30 minutes with no violations observe. No further action taken.
June 26
6:54 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - An officer responded to the report of some suspicious activity on Freeman Road. The caller reported some suspicious vehicle traffic. The officer was later able to stop a vehicle and arrested the driver for driving while suspended.
7:37 a.m. - DLS - A woman, age 31, of Northfield was arrested for driving a motor vehicle on a public highway while her privilege to operate was criminally suspended. An officer stopped her on Vermont Route 12A after recognizing her vehicle. The vehicle she was operating also had defective equipment. She admitted to knowing her license was suspended and was cited to appear in district court on July 30, 2009.
4:05 p.m. - Noise Disturbance - Police were advised of a logging operation in which log trucks were making noise in the neighborhood as early as 4:30 a.m. Police made contact with the logging operation who advised that the situation was a one time thing and that any future work would not start until after 6 a.m.
5:02 p.m. - Sex Offense - A female subject came to the police department concerning being the victim of an attempted sex crime. Further investigation revealed that the crime did not happen in Northfield and the case was transferred to the Vermont State Police.
10:22 p.m. - DLS - Police were working a special DUI detail in Barre when a vehicle was stopped for operating without headlights. The operator from Bethel, was found to be criminally suspended for DUI. While dealing with the man, officers discovered he had been drinking, and he was taken into custody for both offenses, processed, cited into court in July, and released.
June 26
5:28 a.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer responded to a residence on Hill Street to assist the Northfield Volunteer Ambulance service with a patient. The patient was transported to CVH without incident.
June 27
1:40 a.m. - Traffic Hazard - Officers responded to Vermont Route 12 south for the report of a traffic hazard complaint. A caller had reported that a tree was down across the road. Officers put out traffic cones, and flares to caution motorists about the hazards, until a state highway worker was able to respond an clear the roadway from the debris.
12:10 p.m. - Traffic Hazard - Police investigated a complaint concerning a female in a wheelchair obstructing traffic. Police responded to the area and was unable to locate the subject.
6:34 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police were alerted to a missing juvenile who was wandering around their neighborhood. Neighbors did not know the child, but advised he was with a dog. The mother of the child called police about the same time to report her child missing and the two were united.
June 28
12:05 a.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Officers responded to the report of a domestic assault at the Northfield Falls Trailer Park. Upon arrival the officers spoke with the parties involved. It was determined the argument was verbal in nature, but some mutually owned property was damaged. The feuding couple agreed to spend some time apart to allow their emotions to cool off.
4:38 p.m. - Found Property - Police received found property that was discovered at a Vermont Route 12 South business. Police took custody of the item and made contact with the proper owner and made arrangements for the owner to receive the property.
9:26 p.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Police responded to a residence on Vt. Rt. 12A for a reported family fight. Upon arrival the neighbors told police that everyone had left the area either on foot or in vehicles. The area was checked and no one with any involvement was located.
June 29
6:29 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a report of a suspicious circumstance from a North Main Street resident. The resident advised that on the night prior he believed someone may have attempted
to enter his residence, but upon checking, the resident did not see anyone in the area. Police will be keeping an eye on the area for anything suspicious.
10:26 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a report of a suspicious circumstance at a Burham Road residence. The caller reported that on Saturday, a wallet went missing from the residence, while the residents were gone for a short amount of time.
10:52 a.m. - Animal Problem - Police received a report of a loose canine from a North Main Street business. The caller advised that the small white dog came the business seeking shelter from the rain. The dog did not have any tags, and therefore was transferred to Baroffio's Kennel pending identification and notification of its owner.
12:22 p.m. - Unlawful Mischief - Police responded to Sanders Drive for a report of a possible vandalism. Upon arrival, it was found that a residential mailbox had been struck by a motor vehicle sometime overnight, or in the early morning hours. Police photographed the scene, and gathered information from the complainant about the incident.
2:20 p.m. - Accident PD - Police received a report of a motor vehicle collision on Vermont Route 12 North. Upon arrival, it was determined that two vehicles were involved, and that there were no injuries. The Northfield Fire Department also responded and assisted with the clean-up of debris. A crash report was completed for both operators involved.
9:04 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to Belknap Street for the report of a subject lying in the grass not moving. Officers woke the subject upon arrival. He was waiting on a friend to get out of work at the bakery and had fallen asleep.
10:56 p.m. - Theft - Police received a phone call concerning a possible theft. A caller reported several personal items were taken from an apartment that was left unlocked. A few individuals were named by the complainant as possible suspects. An investigation is underway.
