Ronald Boudreau, 78, Decorated The Armory For New Years

The Northfield News

Ronald Boudreau, 78, died Monday, July 6, 2009 at the Central Vermont Hospital in Berlin.

He was born in Northfield on October 24, 1930, the son of Albert & Mildred (Bissonette) Boudreau. He attended Northfield schools.

He married Evette M. Messier in Northfield on May 9, 1987.

He was a custodian at the Vermont National Guard Armory on Depot Square in Northfield for many years. He will be remembered for his flamboyant decorations which completely transformed the Armory for the New Year's dance every year.

He was an active communicant of St. John The Evangelist Church in Northfield and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed maple sugaring, gardening, and working in the woods.

He collected antiques with a passion and frequently attended auctions in Vermont and New Jersey.

He vastly enjoyed picking strawberries and always was among the very first in the berry fields.

He also visited several yard sales per day where he soon established, "Boudreau's pick of the lot".

Ronald always had time for people; he was a good hearted and genuinely friendly to all who crossed his path. Some people glide through life and are soon forgotten, but Ronnie Boudreau leaves all of us with unforgettable memories, which will stay with us to the end of our days.

He is survived by his wife, Evette of Northfield; his sister, Ramona Boudreau of Flagstaff, Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. John the Evangelist Church, 206 Vine Street, Northfield, VT 05663. Kingston Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
