To The Pool

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS IT SEEMS THAT the only time the employees at the town pool hear anything about their work is when complaints come in to them. I'd like to take a moment to thank them for their work. It's time they were given a pat on the back.

The Northfield pool is run efficiently and with dedication to the safety of the swimmers. We're lucky to have such a pool in our town. Residents of other towns swim or take lessons at our pool because it is so clean, well run, and affordable. I've personally heard other moms talk about swimming here instead of their own town pools.

The lifeguards and staff are hardworking, professional, and yes, they do have fun when they aren't on guard. The kids love and respect them, and the parents in this town trust them enough to let their children swim their without their presence. Every child swimming there without a parent in attendance is a testament to the incredible job Shannon and the staff are doing.

Why they almost only hear complaints and rarely get praise is beyond me, and frankly I think it's a shame. Not to mention, the complaints I have heard lodged are silly, frivolous, and sometimes even unsafe. Last week someone actually complained that there were too many lifeguards on duty. I would much rather my kids have two extra eyes on them than too few.

I support my hard earned tax dollars going to the expenses of the pool that has brought so many hours of enjoyment to my family. I can only hope the town manager is defending our wonderful pool staff, and I encourage the people at the pool to take two seconds to tell the staff that they are doing a good job.

Good job, Northfield Memorial Park Pool staff. Please keep it up!
MARY HEINE
