NORTHFIELD POLICE REPORT

July 15

12:31 p.m. - Trespassing - Police received a complaint of a vehicle parked and blocking an access to a property owners field. Police responded and found the vehicle to be on private property. Police attempted to make contact with the vehicle owner to move the vehicle. The landowner was advised that he could have the vehicle towed at the owners expense if he wished and that he was the one that needed to call the wrecker.

5:52 p.m. - Citizen Assist - Police responded to Rte. 12A for a report of a confrontation. Police located the complainant who advised that a male party who appeared to be intoxicated and operating a motor while under suspension drove by yelling that he was going to burn their house down that night. Police received written statements from the complainant and a written notice of trespass was filled out to be served on the individual.

July 16

4:31 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - Police responded to Wall Street for a report of a citizen dispute. The complainant advised that she was afraid to go back to her residence because her boyfriend had been drinking and she wanted him out. The male subject is in FSU custody and they were contacted to remove the subject from the residence.

6:05 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to a residence on Union Street for a Suspicious call. A resident came home and found her screen broken and plastic in a window cut. She contacted her landlord who advised her he had let Orkin into the house, and would fix the screen. The resident was given information about proper landlord notice and how to proceed with a complaint against her landlord.

10:47 p.m. - Traffic Hazard - Police responded to Stoney Brook Road for a Traffic Hazard. A tree had fallen across the road. The town highway department responded and removed the tree.

July 17

8:33 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - A local hardware store reported that they had a suspicious circumstance. The owner of the store asked the officer to check out some items that had been left at the store. The items may be recovered stolen property. The incident is under investigation.

4:37 p.m. - DLS - A man, age 36 of Northfield was arrested for driving while criminally suspended. Police had received information from an off duty officer that he was driving the truck that he was stopped in. Prior to the stop, an anonymous tip was phoned in that he was driving south on Rte. 12 North. He was cited to appear in the Washington County District Court on 8-27-09.

July 18

10:05 a.m. - MV Complaint - An officer responded to a residence on Bull Run Road for the report of a vehicle which had rolled forward off of the driveway and down an embankment. The complainant reported some children were in the vehicle but uninjured. Upon arrival the officer assisted at the scene. The passengers were all checked and found to be unharmed.

July 19

12:14 a.m. - MV Complaint - A resident of Northfield Falls called to report a suspicious vehicle driving back and forth in front of her residence. Officers had already spoke with the operator of the vehicle, who was out looking for a young puppy, who had managed to run away earlier in the evening. The dog was later located.

3:10 a.m. - Alcohol Offense - An officer while on patrol came across several young adults at a local convenience store. While speaking with one of the people, the officer could detect the odor of intoxicants. As a result of the subsequent investigation two members of the group were issued referrals to the Washington County Teen Alcohol Safety Program.

6:10 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a report of suspicious activity at a Vine Street residence. The resident advised that around 2:30 a.m. two suspicious individuals were seen outside the residence, and believed they may have unsuccessfully attempted to gain access. Police responded and photographed the area. Northfield Police would like to remind anyone to call immediately upon any suspicions of unlawful activity.

8:44 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to Vine Street for reports of rearranged road signs. Upon arrival, Police found that several road signs had been either removed from their mounts or had been rearranged. The Town Highway Department was contacted and they appropriately replaced the signs. No damages were reported.

July 20

8:32 a.m. - MV Complaint - Police met with a Traverse Street resident about a motor vehicle incident. The resident advised that someone had driven into the foundation of her house and needed a crash report to document any damages. During follow up, it was determined that the damage to the residence was minimal, and no crash report was actually needed.

4:13 p.m. - Theft - Police received a report of a theft from a North Main Street business. The complainant reported that a Northfield resident had failed to return rental property which was due back over a month ago. Police will attempt to make contact with the resident and investigate further to see if any criminal violations have taken place for theft of rental property.

5:57 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - An officer responded to the area of Chandler Road for the report of someone shooting in the woods. The complainant advised she could hear debris falling on her house and was concerned about the direction the people were shooting. I located a group of people in the area and cautioned them about shooting in a safe direction.

July 21

3:55 a.m. - Noise Disturbance - An officer was dispatched to a noise complaint on Dogwood Glen Drive. The complainant advised a neighbor was making noise, moving furniture and banging against the wall. Upon arrival, the officer listened outside and did not hear any unreasonable noise. The officer did speak with the neighbors as they were clearly awake. The officer advised them of the complaint and asked them to be conscientious of the hour

1:48 p.m. - Animal Problem - Police responded to Central Street for a report of a loose canine. Upon arrival, Police spotted the black and white terrier and attempted to catch it, but were unsuccessful. The dog was tracked down South Main Street, Wall Street, and Pleasant Street where the dog ran away from Police. No further contact was made.
