A special panel discussion with veterans of the war from Northfield will share their experiences in the Community Room on September 16 at 7 p.m. The Northfield Historical Society will sponsor a panel discussion of veterans of the Viet Nam War with ties to Northfield and Norwich University. The discussion led by local attorney, Michael Popowski, will bring a wide range of human experience which should make for an informative evening said Roy Butler, chairman of the committee which set up the discussion.

Panel participants will be Maj. Gen. W. Russell Todd, Retired, former president of Norwich University who will speak about his experiences in Viet Nam during the war.

Also on hand will be Maj. Gen. John Greenway, a graduate of Norwich and resident of Northfield whose helmet was shot through by a Viet Cong bullet. He will tell about his experiences.

Northfield residents John Knox, Eric Braman, Jim Ryan and Dexter Landers will be on hand. Each had varied experiences during the war serving in everything from flying helicopters to working in engineering companies building the infrastructure for allied troops.

The panel discussion will start at 7 p.m. in the Community Room of the Brown Public Library and those attending will have the opportunity to ask questions of the panelists.

The Viet Nam War: A Reflection, the society's summer show will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Paine House which is attached to the library.

Light refreshments will be served following the discussion.
