A Big Thank You

2009-09-17 / Letters

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS WHEN A COMMUNITY is able to come together for three days of celebration, renewing friendships, and having fun, it's important to thank those who made the event possible. The 2009 Northfield Labor Day festival allowed many hundreds of people to enjoy a sun-drenched weekend with good food, family-friendly entertainment, and a unique parade.

Most who attended probably did not know that all of this was the work of a very small committee that consisted of Lisa Brucken, Lisa and John Burr, Christine Davidson, Nicole DiDomenico, Charlene McCarney, Perry McGrath, Diane McKain, Marguerite Moore, Emily Rigley, John Szewczyk, and Louisa Tripp. They met, on their own time as volunteers, for months in order to recruit vendors, book entertainers, and organize the parade, all on a very tight budget.

If you see these folks around town, please tell them how much you appreciated their work. And if you feel so moved, why not join them in helping to plan for next year?
