NORTHFIELD POLICE REPORT
September 2
11:08 a.m. - Citizen Assist - An officer who is also a certified child passenger technician did a child seat installation/inspection for a Northfield resident. This service is free and is open to any of the general public. Northfield Police sponsors a child passenger safety check every 3rd Thursday of the month or you can call to get the officers availability for installs and inspections.
7:05 p.m. - Parking Problem - Police responded to a residence on Central Street for a parking problem. A vehicle was parked directly in front of the resident's driveway. The vehicle was ticketed for blocking the driveway and towed by North Main Service.
7:33 p.m. - Accident PD - Police responded to Bean Road for a one vehicle accident. The vehicle had been abandoned and was obstructing traffic. North Main Service was called to tow the vehicle.
September 3
7:38 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police Assisted Northfield Rescue on a medical call.
7:55 a.m. - Accident PD - Police responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Elm Street and South Main Street. The complainant advised that she was traveling north on South Main Street when the other operator pulled out off of Elm Street into the side of her vehicle causing an estimated $5000.00 in combined damages to both vehicles. There were no reported injuries.
4:13 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to Dog Wood Glen for a report of a suspicious male hanging out in the area. When Police arrived, They were informed that the male entered an apartment and they did not believe that he belonged there. Police located the male and it turned out that he was visiting a friend who is a tenant at the apartments.
September 4
9:43 a.m. - Theft - An officer was contacted regarding the theft of services. It was reported that person(s) unknown had removed the electric meter tag and hooked up electric service. I made contact with the owner of the house and advised him of charges that could be filed. No further action.
12:43 p.m. - Traffic Hazard - Police responded to Bull Run Road for a report of tractor trailer blocking the roadway. When Police arrived, the tractor trailer was on the side of the roadway loading repossessed vehicles. No further action taken.
1:52 p.m. - Accident PD - Police responded to a single vehicle accident on Union Brook Road. When Police arrived, they found a vehicle in a ditch. The operator advised that some receipts fell from the visor and were blowing around the inside of the vehicle. The operator advised that while attempting to grab them, she left the roadway into the ditch. The vehicle had minor damage. Vehicle was towed out by North Main Service.
2:04 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - A citizen of Prospect Street came to the police department to file a report of suspicious activity. Two nights before the citizen had seen two white males walking on Elm Street with beer in their hands and no clothes on. The two went into a house.
September 5
1:02 p.m. - Accident PD - Police responded to South Main Street for a report of a motor vehicle collision. Upon investigation it was determined that a passing motor vehicle struck a parked vehicle. Due to the large amount of debris and leaking fluids, the Northfield Fire Dept. also responded to assist and cleaned the roadway. North Main Towing Service assisted with the removal of the vehicles from the roadway.
8:11 p.m. - Citizen Dispute - Police received a complaint from a citizen on the commons that she was having trouble with her brother. The complainant advised that she was left in charge of her brother by her mother but that he was not listening to her. Police attempted to contact the parents but were unable to reach them. A friend of the family stepped in and offered to watch the male individual until the parents came back.
11 p.m. - Suspicious Person/Circumstance - A concerned resident of Central Street called to report what he believed was a possible fight. The complainant could hear people yelling and cursing outside his residence, and also heard a beer bottle thrown. The complainant watched the people walk to a residence. Upon arrival officers ensured there was no fight and cautioned the tenants about the complaint and noise ordinance violations.
September 6
2:53 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to the area of Parson Lane for a suspicious incident. Upon arrival officers did not locate anyone and did not observe the reported activity. A check of the area was completed and the complainant was not available to give more details.
2:56 a.m. - Alcohol Offense - Officers responded to a residence for an unrelated matter. While there officers became aware of an underage drinking party. Officers investigated the party and issued several referrals to the Washington County Teen Alcohol Safety Program.
2:57 a.m. - Agency Assistance - A Northfield Officer assisted the Berlin Police Department with a DUI arrest. The arrestee was processed at the Northfield Police Station and released later to a friend at his residence.
3:10 p.m. - Lost Property - An officer was contacted by the victim who reported that she had lost her cellular phone. She told me that while she was sitting on the Northfield Common talking with friends, that when she left she dropped her phone. Anyone finding a purple phone please return it to the Northfield Police Department.
5:08 p.m. - Theft - A resident of Central Street called to report that someone had entered her apartment while she was away and stole a Play Station III. The complainant's father witnessed a male enter a purple vehicle parked in the driveway, the males was holding a black object. The officer will speak with the male the father identified and attempt to recover the stolen property.
September 7
9:04 a.m. - Noise Disturbance - Police received a late reported noise disturbance from Elm Street. The caller advised that on the night prior, a residence nearby was loud. The caller advised that it happens a few times every week. Police will check the area in the future, in the event there are any further occurrences.
9:25 a.m. - Property Damage, Non Vandalism - Police received a report of property damage from a Chamberlain Road resident. Police learned that a window on the cap of a truck had been shot out by a B.B. gun. It was suspected that the incident had occurred within the past few days, and Police gathered further information on there whereabouts of the complainant in an attempt to locate any potential suspects.
September 8
11:38 a.m. - Unlawful Mischief - Police received a report of a vandalism on Water Street. A landlord advised that several panels had been punched out of garage at his rental property. Police canvassed the area and spoke with several individuals. Investigation continues.
11:55 a.m. - Medical Emergency - Police located apossible disabled vehicle at the roadside of VT RT 64, near the VT RT 12 S intersection. Upon speaking with the operator, Police found that she had been stung by an insect several times and was having a medical emergency. Police summoned the Northfield Ambulance Service and they arrived and treated the patient.
1:21 p.m. - Found Property - The manager of Subway on East ST brought a set of keys to the department. The Kia car keys had been left at Subway on Friday and no one had come to the restaurant to claim them. The keys are now at the police department and can be claimed by stopping in or calling 485- 9181.
2:36 p.m. - Theft - Police received areport of a theft from a Belknap Street business. An employee called and advised that personal effects were missing from the business. Police will be gathering a sworn statement from the complainant and will be investigating further.
6:26 p.m. - Juvenile Problem - An officer responded to a residence on Western Avenue for the report of an out of control juvenile. Upon arrival the officer spoke with the juvenile who advised he was frustrated from being picked on by his friends. The officer also spoke with the juvenile's friends on appropriate behavior and bullying.
