Support Our Troops

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS DID YOU KNOW every month there are 6 to 12 boxes of things like candy, foot powder, body wash, razors and all kinds of treats that are sent to our troops that are deployed all over the world.

These boxes are collected and made up by the Lady's Auxiliary of the American Legion headed up by Pam Boyce who does most of the shopping on her own time for those items going into boxes, then volunteers pack the boxes and they are mailed to troops with Northfield connections.

The efforts of these ladies are supported by the Legion family and through donations from the good hearted citizens of Northfield and surrounding towns. All of the cost of mailing these boxes if paid for by the Sons of the American Legion which can be costly but they work hard to raise money to willingly support this cause.

Down at Ellie's Farm Market they have given permission to sell penny candy called treats for troops. All of the money raised from this goes to buy needed things for our boys stationed so far away from home.

A big thank you goes to Bill and Karen for allowing Pam to do this.

We hope that this little letter gives you some insight into what goes on behind the scenes and gives some credit to the people who make this happen who we would like to thank very very much for their efforts.

I.M. PATRIOT
