Conservation Group Working To Repair Paine Mountain Trail
      The Northfield Conservation Commission along with a group of volunteers has been sprucing up the hiking trail on Paine Mountain. Last Sunday, the group finished clearing larger trees blocking the trail and began work on the trail lean-to.

Local Man Arrested For Sheltering Run Away Child
      Northfield Police have reported that they arrested Matthew Amell, 21, of Northfield for custodial interference and unlawful sheltering and aiding of a runaway child. According to the report, police received an anonymous tip that a runaway juvenile was at the suspect's parents' residence located at Preston Drive in Northfield.

Kellogg-Hubbard Library
      MONTPELIER - Amherst College professor and author Ilan Stavans will look at the life of the controversial Yiddish writer Isaac Bashevis Singer in a talk at Montpelier's Kellogg-Hubbard Library on November 4. His talk, "Singer's Typewriter. . . and Mine," is part of the Vermont Humanities Council's First Wednesdays series and takes place at 7:00 p.m.

Weight Watchers Give Food To CERV, Lose Weight Themselves
      Northfield Weight Watchers have donated 33.4 pounds of non-perishable food to CERV as part of the Weight Watchers' "Lose for Good" campaign while collectively, the members lost a total of 90.4 pounds from their own bodies.

      The library is holding a raffle and will give away a Mountain Bike. The bike is a beautiful Kona BLAST mountain bike provided by Bicycle Express which will go to the lucky winner of this Brown Public Library fundraiser.      Tuesday was the last day for the Farmer's Market. Chip Natvig owner of Pebble Brook Farm was the only farmer brave enough to sell in the snow.
