Norwich has awarded two Northfield women with the 2009 Honorary Alumna Award.

Alice Duprey was given the award for her great love of and service to Norwich as was Laurette Bainbridge.

Ms. Duprey, affectionately known as "Beany," has worked tirelessly for Norwich the past 27 years in the dining facility formerly operated by Norwich and currently managed by Sodexho Campus Services.

She has faithfully served with a smile thousands of Norwich students, faculty, staff and guests who have passed through the doors of Harmon Hall. She is a hard working and very thorough staff member who participates on the Food Service Safety Committee.

Beany enjoys learning about the rich history of Norwich and witnessing the changes and growth that have occurred on campus over the past 25 years. In her free time, she enjoys bird watching, tending to her garden and reading. Beany is blessed with three children and two grandchildren.

Ms. Bainbridge, affectionately known as "Kitty," is a pillar of catering services on campus and has spent the last 20 years of her 30-year Norwich career dedicated to the food service operations first run by the University and currently managed by Sodexho Campus Services.

If you have attended a Norwich catered event, most likely Kitty was there with her quality service and a smile, and it is this high level of dependability and friendliness that earned her a promotion to catering supervisor.

As if she were the manager in a local restaurant, Kitty knows and fills the special needs of the many students, alumni, faculty and staff who dine at her events, and she treats them as if they are her valued regular customers.

It is her attention to detail and warm personality that have earned her special recognition, many friends and personal and professional satisfaction.

Kitty is the proud mother of two daughters, grandmother of eight, and great-grandmother to one great-grandchild.
