Norwich Men Roll Past Johnson & Wales 6 - 1 In GNAC Soccer
Danny Hudson and Bobby Begin both scored twice as the Norwich University men's soccer team rolled past Johnson & Wales, 6-1, in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) match Saturday afternoon.
Norwich (7-6-2, 3-3-1 GNAC) has scored 14 goals over its last two games after netting just four goals in its previous five contests.
Hudson netted his first goal less than three minutes into the match when he stole the ball from a JWU defender and scored from 10 yards out. The goal, which was the first of Hudson's career, gave the Cadets a 1-0 lead at the 2:18 mark.
Begin made it 2-0 in the 17th minute when he converted a cross from Bridger Van Ness. Mike Ravenelle extended Norwich's lead to 3-0 in the 25th minute when he scored off of a Chris Rivet direct kick.
Hudson struck again in the 39th minute, scoring his second marker of the game off a pass from Kyle Buscaglia to give NU a 4-1 halftime lead.
Begin added an insurance tally in the 67th minute when he scored his second goal of the game, and Garrett Shufelt capped the scoring when he converted a penalty kick in the 79th minute.
