Cadets Sweep Suffolk & Albertus Magnus In Volleyball Tourney

The Norwich University volleyball team swept a pair of matches versus Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents Saturday, as the Cadets defeated Suffolk, 3-1, and swept Albertus Magnus, 3-0.

Norwich (14-9, 5-4 GNAC) stuggled a bit against Suffolk, winning by scores of 25-15, 21- 25, 25-20 and 25-15. Senior Lisset Magdaleno (11 kills, seven blocks) and junior Molly Rice (27 assists, eight digs) led the way against the Rams. Junior Thea Evans added six kills and seven digs, while sophomore Brittany Palmer posted 12 digs, nine kills and seven service aces. Fellow sophomore April Byllaardt added five kills, four service aces and four blocks in the victory.

Norwich cruised to a relatively easy victory in the second match, defeating Albertus Magnus by scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-15. Magdaleno led the attack with a team-high 13 kills, while Rice recorded 19 assists and four service aces. Evans (six kills, four service aces), junior Keira Holmes (eight assists) and sophomore Savannah Bridges (four digs, three service aces) all posted solid numbers against the Falcons as well.
