Northfield Police Report

November 11

8:10 a.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - An officer was met at the police station by a 16 year old girl. She advised that she did not want to live at home and wanted assistance. The officer contacted her parents along with DCF and Washington County Mental Health. After nearly three hours, DCF took custody of the juvenile.

11:07 a.m. - MV Complaint - Police responded to the Falls Trailer Park for a report of a vehicle being operated in an unsafe manner. Police located the vehicle and the operator and found him to be under criminal suspension. The plates on the vehicle were not assigned and were seized by police. Police advised the owner of the vehicle not to rev the engine so as to disturb the neighbors.

11:38 a.m. - Citizen Dispute - An officer was met at the police station by the complainant. She advised that two men had been showing up at her house looking for her daughter. After talking the officer found out that one of the men was a juvenile the other is 27 years of age. He made contact with the 27 year old, who assured him that he was not interested and was just there with the juvenile. I advised him not to go to the residence in question.

9:07 p.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Police responded to a reported 911 call in which it was reported as a domestic disturbance involving a threat of a knife. Northfield Police was assisted by officers from the Berlin Police department. The parties involved did not want to file written statements nor did they wish to file a criminal complaint. The parties involved advised that they could work out the matter peacefully.

November 12

5:20 p.m. - Litter/Pollution/Public Health - Police responded to Videos and More for a report of illegal dumping of trash. Police located two large trash bags and inside the bags along with normal household debris was several pieces of mail with the owners information on it. Police will be contacting the owner of the bags and will be issuing a $500.00 citation for the illegal dumping.

6:54 p.m. - Found Property - A clutch wallet was turned into Northfield Police after it had been found. Police are in the process of locating the owner of the wallet and will return the property over to the owner once notification has been made.

7:55 p.m. - Theft - Police took a report concerning the theft of a Norwich University Class ring. The ring was taken from the room of a student sometime on 11-12-09 and between the hours of 1pm and 4pm, anyone with information is asked to contact the Northfield Police Department or Central Vermont Crime Stoppers at 800- 529-9998.

November 13

12:29 a.m.- Theft - Members from the Norwich Hockey team came to the Northfield Police Dept. and reported that at some point during the game on 11-12- 09 against Saint Michael's College property was taken from the lockers of (6) six Norwich University Hockey players. At this point it is unknown if thefts occurred to the St. Michael's team as well. Police are investigating.

10:23 a.m. - Accident PI - Lawrence M. Drown, age 65 of Northfield was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and gross careless and negligent operation with accident and injury resulting. The incident is still under investigation and additional charges are expected to be filed. Drown was cited for 1-14-10.

November 14

8:57 a.m. - Accident PD - Police responded to Lovers Lane for a report of a motor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Police found that a vehicle had left the roadway and overturned due to icy road conditions. The operator was not injured as a result of the crash, and denied needing Emergency Medical Services. The vehicle was removed by North Main Towing, and Police completed a crash report for the operator involved.

9:23 p.m. - Noise Disturbance - An officer responded to a noise complaint on Cox Brook Road. Upon arrival the officer could not hear any unreasonable noise emanating from the residence in question.

November 15

3:38 p.m. - Accident PD - Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision on VT RT 12A. Upon arrival, Police found that a vehicle leaving a private driveway had struck a passing motor vehicle. Both operators denied any injury as a result of the collision. A crash report was completed for the operators involved. Both vehicles sustained minor damage as a result of the crash, and they were driven from the scene.

4:10 p.m. - Litter/Pollution/Public Health - Police responded to Cox Brook Road for a littering complaint. Upon arrival, Police found that several trash bags had been left at the property. Closer inspection yielded that most of the contents were returnable alcohol cans or bottles, and no items were found to identify the individual who had left them. The complainant decided that he would keep the bags, and return the bottles for cash.

7:46 p.m. - Accident PD - An officer responded to a one vehicle crash on Stony Brook Road. No one was with the vehicle and the rear license plate had been removed. The owner of the vehicle will be contacted to determine who was driving the vehicle at the time of the collision. The vehicle suffered minor damage. A State of Vermont Crash report was completed.

November 16

8:13 a.m. - Juvenile Problem - Police responded to the Falls Mobile Home park for a report of a juvenile problem. Police learned that a verbal altercation had taken place, and the juvenile left the residence prior to Police arrival. Police canvassed the area in an effort to locate the juvenile, but were unsuccessful.

1:04 p.m. - Found Property - Police received a set of car keys from a citizen. The keys, one of which was found to be

belonging to a Honda vehicle, were located in the roadway in front of Fiddler's Green on Vermont Route 12 South. The keys are currently in safe keeping at the Northfield Police Department, and if you believe these are yours, please contact us at 802-485-9181.

2:02 p.m. - Burglary Alarm - Police responded to Little Northfield Road for an activated residential burglary alarm. Upon arrival, Police found evidence that the building had been forcefully entered. Police cleared the building and found that the intruders were no longer present. Several items were taken during the incident, and Police collected trace evidence at the scene. Investigation into the incident is continuing.

November 17

12:57 p.m. - Theft - Police received a report of a theft from Water Street. Police learned that at a constructon site, a piece of equipment used to cut pavement had gone missing. The item was last seen near the intersection of Water and Wall Street, and was believed to have been taken overnight. Anyone who may have information about this incident is urged to contact the Northfield Police Department at 802-485-9181.

2:55 p.m. - Unlawful Mischief - Police responded to East Street for a report of a vandalized motor vehicle. Upon arrival, Police found that a window to a vehicle had been smashed, but nothing within the vehicle was reportedly taken. It was determined that the incident happened sometime between 3 AM and 8 AM. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Northfield Police Department at 802-485-9181.

4:30 p.m. - Citizen Assist - Police assisted a Dogwood Glen Drive resident in regards to an ongoing incident. Police spoke with the complainant and received information about a personal issue. Police gave some information about how to further handle the issue.

7:36 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - An officer received a call from a resident of Pleasant Street who reported seeing two suspicious males outside his residence who took off running when he saw them. The complainant advised he knew they lived in the area. The officer will speak with the accused and ask why they were hanging out near the residence.

8:46 p.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - An officer responded to the report of a family disturbance call at an apartment in Dog Wood Glenn. Upon arrival the officer determined the couple had been having a verbal argument. No signs of physical violence were observed. Both parties advised the situation had diffused.

9:13 p.m. - Noise Disturbance - An officer responded to a residence on Vine Street for the report of a noise complaint. Upon arrival the officer did not hear any noise from outside the apartment. Upon entering the hallway of the apartment the officer could hear some noise from a TV, but determined that noise was not unreasonable.
