Legion ‘Toys For Our Kids’ Drive Is Well Underway
Members of The American Legion Family of Northfield are again hosting the Toys for Our Kids program for the fastapproaching holiday season.
“Unfortunately, each year some parents find themselves in no position to be able to provide Christmas presents for their children and this year we expect the need to be even greater than in previous years,” said Valerie Drown from the Legion.
Volunteers of The American Legion Family collect donations and donate the remainder of money needed and shop for a variety of toys and presents. Then all the toys and gift items are set up at the Legion.
Families in need are notified of the date of distribution and come to the Legion’s “toy store” and choose gifts for their children. Wrapping paper and/or wrapping services are also available.
Last year over 100 families and 200 children of the greater Northfield area visited this program and picked out toys
Ms. Drown said that “we are anticipating the need to be even greater this year.”
“It is our hope that every child in our community has a delightful Christmas this year and we are asking for your help,” she added.
Last year much of our shopping was made possible by donations from the local business community and through individual donations. However, individuals can also bring toys over to the Letion for distribution.
Please mail or deliver your donation to The American Legion at 48 Depot Square, Northfield, VT 05663.
If you prefer to purchase items for the program, there will be a drop box at the American Legion. Some items that were in high demand last year were board games, toy cars and trucks, crafts, models, sportrelated items, and items for teens. All donations should be new and unwrapped.

If you know of any family who is in need of the services of this program, please let us know or have them contact us, Ms. Drown said.
