Northfield Police Report
November 25
1:05 p.m. - MV Complaint - Police received a complaint of a motorcycle operating in the town's well field area off of Well Field Lane. The property is off limits to motor vehicles. Police located the operator and advised him that he can not operate his motorcycle on the property. His information was gathered and he was issued a verbal warning to stay out of the Well Field area.
1:06 p.m. - Accident PD - Police responded to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of South Main Street and Kent Street. There were no injuries and only minor damage to both vehicles. Police filled out the State of Vermont Uniform Crash Report and gave copies to both parties involved in the accident.
4:46 p.m. - Citizen Assist - Police assisted a citizen with a car Seat installation. The seat was an older model and had been recalled. The citizen then left to purchase a new seat. He will be coming back to get it installed. Northfield Police have a certified Child Seat Technician and do child safety seat inspection and installations at no charge to the public.
6:33 p.m. - Disorderly Conduct/ Noise - Police responded to a residence to assist a mental health professional with a client who was being uncooperative and needed to leave placement due to behavior problems. Police responded and spoke with the client who voluntarily left with the mental health professional for a temporary placement.
November 26
1:50 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to West Hill Road for a report of a suspicious vehicle that may be stuck or had gone off the roadway as the vehicle lights were shinning in the complainants window. Police responded to the area and located tire marks. The vehicle in question had already left the scene. Vehicle may have been lighting up the nearby field looking for deer.
9:31 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police responded to Route 12 for a report of an individual laying in the grass. The officer made contact with the individual and found him to be fine. The subject advised he was taking a nap.
November 27
1:11 a.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Police assisted by Berlin Police responded to a reported active domestic in the Northfield Falls Trailer Park. Northfield rescue was requested to respond to the scene as the victim in this matter advised that she was hit upside the head and also strangled. Scott Irish, 28 of Northfield Falls was arrested and released on a citation to appear in Vt District Court in Barre on 01-14-10.
12:41 p.m. - Phone Problem /Harassment - Police received a complainant of phone harassment. The complainant stated that her son's soon to be ex-wife keeps calling her to speak with her son. The complainant advised that she does not want her to call any more. I spoke with the female and asked her to stop calling the complainant. No further action taken at this time.
12:46 p.m. - Citizen Assist - Police assisted a citizen with a car Seat installation. The citizen was shown how to install the seat and was shown how to use the seat properly. He will be bringing his infant son home from the hospital on 11- 28-09. Northfield Police have a certified Child Seat Technician and do child safety seat inspection and installations at no charge to the public.
5:29 p.m. - Overdose - Police responded with Northfield Ambulance to 2031 Union Brook Road for a Female that had overdosed on prescription medication. The female had been taking medication and drinking alcohol and when she was located by the home owner, she was vomiting and in and out of consciousness. The female was transported to the Central Vermont Hospital for treatment and observation.
8:47 p.m. - Accident PD - Police took a phone call from a person reporting a minor motor vehicle accident that had happened earlier in the day. The information concerning the crash was noted and the operator was advised to contact the insurance company and file a state accident form with the DMV should the damage be over $1,000.00 No investigation done and reported for insurance purposes only.
November 28
12:37 p.m. - Juvenile Problem - Police responded to a local business for a report of three individuals who were being loud inside the store. Upon arrival the officer met with the three individuals and advised them to leave the business at the request of the business employee. The three subjects complied and left the area without further incident.
10:30 p.m. - Phone Problem /Harassment – An officer was advised of a phone harassment complaint. The caller stated that she was receiving unwanted messages from a family member. The officer talked with both parties.
November 29
5:50 a.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer was dispatched to a reported intoxicated person who was also suicidal. I responded to the Northfield Library due to the report that this person was at that location. Once in the area, I was re-directed to behind the U.S. Post Office. I made contact and was met by the Northfield Ambulance. The 21 year old female was taken by ambulance to CVH. Her BAC: was .202.
7:35 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer responded to a residence on VT Route 12 to assist the Northfield Ambulance service with a patient. The officer assisted at the scene and the patient was transported without further incident.
9:54 a.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - An officer responded to a residence on Expansion Lane for the report of a family disturbance. The officer located an incapacitated female during the call. The woman was taken into protective custody and later released to her daughter.
November 30
9:46 a.m. - MV Complaint An officer received a call from the municipal building requesting assistance on Bear Farm Road. The officer was advised that a person was doing work on the road that had no authorization to do so. He responded to the area and met with a party. The work was about complete. He requested that the party, which they advised that he would not. Civil action will be sought by the Town.
10:50 a.m. - Agency Assistance - Police responded to a residence on Central Street to assist the Northfield Ambulance regarding a medical call for service. Upon arrival, officer's were advised that the ambulance crew were fine and did not need police assistance.
11:27 a.m. - Accident PD - Police responded to the Northfield High School for a report of a minor vehicle crash. Upon arrival, it was determined that a school bus had backed into a parked vehicle. There were no children on the bus at the time. The officer took a crash report and provided both parties with information to give to their insurance companies.
3:37 p.m. - Theft - Police responded to Harmon Drive for a report of a theft complaint. Police met with a Norwich University student who advised that a camera tripod had been taken from his dormitory over the Thanksgiving break.
