HAMPTON, NH – Doris A. Colegrove, 85, of Hampton, NH, formerly of Northfield, VT, died Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, MA.

Mrs. Colegrove was born November 9, 1924 in Northfield to the late Ralph and Hilda (DeAlmeida) Gokey.

Doris was raised in Northfield and graduated from Northfield High School with the Class of 1942.

She earned her degree from the University of Lowell and taught for many years at Waltham High School. Doris moved to Hampton in 1998.

Family members include her nephews Ralph Dunham and his wife Nancy of Lexington, MA and Delwyn Gokey of Burbank, CA, her cousin and good friend Marcia Barry of Newburyport, MA and her brother-in-law Kenneth Couture of Hampton.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Robert Colegrove in 1997, her brother Delwyn Gokey in 1991 and her sister Avis Couture in 2002.

Visiting hours were on Sunday, December 6, 2009 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH and services were held on Monday, December 7, 2009 in the funeral home.

A spring burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Northfield, VT. Exact date and time will be announced at a later date.
