December 2

8:24 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a complaint of a video game that was taken from a back pack at the Boys and Girls club. The complainant advised that several of his friends have reported to him about who took it. Police will be contacting all parties involved in this incident.

11:33 a.m. - Unlawful Mischief - Police responded to Turkey Hill Road for a report of vandalism to a residence. Police responded and found that several windows had been smashed out of the residence. Police contacted the owners and they will be coming up to assess the damages to the property. Police estimated the damages to be approximately $500.00 to the residence.

9:21 p.m. - Family Fight/Domestic - Police responded to a family disturbance that involved some arguing and screaming. The responding officer spoke with the subjects involved who had already calmed down upon the arrival of the police. The matter causing the stress and anger was dealt with and a plan was made on how to talk about the subject to prevent future problems.

December 3

1:37 p.m. - Juvenile Problem - Police responded to The Northfield High School for a reported suspicious person/circumstance. The female complainant advised that she may have been followed to school that day by an older male individual that she met several months ago. She stated that she saw him out walking and that he said "Hi" to her and continued walking the same direction with no further contact. Police are investigating.

3:50 p.m. - Vehicle towed - Police stopped a vehicle on VT Rte 12A for no front plate, and an out of state inspection sticker. The vehicle was not registered, and the plate on the vehicle was not assigned. The plate was seized and the operator received two Vermont Civil Violation Complaints for registration and unassigned plates. The vehicle was towed by North Main Service.

4:14 p.m. - Animal Problem - The complainant entered the police department to report that he had received a dog bite. He advised that while biking on Winch Hill a white short haired dog chased him and bite him on the ankle. I responded to the area and found a female lab mix sitting on the side of the road. After a few minutes I was able to capture the dog. The dog did not appear to be aggressive. The lab has a few tan spots on her body. Please call if you own her.

December 4

6:14 a.m. – Theft – An officer was dispatched to a reported burglary. The complainant advised that person(s) unknown to him had removed a large container of change from his residence. He advised that he had nearly $1,000 in the jar. Anyone with information concerning this burglary, is requested to contact the police department.

1:09 p.m. - Assault - Police responded to the High School for a report of Lewd and Lascivious conduct between two students. Police and the Department of Children and Families are investigating the incident.

2:32 p.m. - Animal Problem - A citizen of Expansion Lane called to report two unleashed dogs at her residence. The dogs had no collars with identification. The tag on the Australian Shepherd was 2005, which is too old to trace. The chocolate lab did not have a collar. The animal control officer was called and arrangements were made for the dogs to be lodged until the owners could be found.

December 5

11:58 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a complaint of driveway markers being stolen from a residence on Loop Road in Northfield Vermont. The complainant advised that during the night, someone stole 4, 6 foot orange fiberglass markers that were out near the end of her driveway. The complainant stated that the value of the markers was to be approximately $40.00.

11:58 a.m. – Theft - Police responded to School Street for a reported theft. The complainant advised that a large sum of money was missing from the residence. Police responded and attempted to collect evidence. The investigation is ongoing.

5 p.m. - Accident PD - Police responded with Northfield Ambulance and Fire Department to Rte 64 for a reported accident near the south bound ramp near exit 5. When police arrived, it was determined that the vehicle had slid off the road and there was no damages. Police stood by and assisted with traffic while North Main Service towed the vehicle out of the ditch. The location of the incident was in Williamstown.

December 6

12:37 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - An officer responded to the area of Mill Street for the report of a group of people out in the road yelling and screaming. Upon arrival the officer located a small group trying to assist a very intoxicated male. The male was taken into protective custody. Attempts to release him to family were unsuccessful. The male was screened by a WCMH employee and transported to Barre City police department for the night.

December 7

8:20 a.m. - Theft - Police responded to a residence on Mill Street for a report of a theft. The victim advised that she discovered approximately 20 boxes of Christmas decorations had been stolen from her garage attic. The victim advised the garage was not locked. A police report was taken. Police remind everyone to keep doors and windows locked.

10:38 a.m. - Agency Assistance - Police responded to the area of Dole Hill Road to assist a Game Warden from the Vermont Department of Fish & Wildlife. It was reported that someone had shot at game illegally, and the warden needed help in canvassing the area. Police checked the Dole Hill Road area, but did not have any contact with the suspects involved.

3:45 p.m. - Vagrancy - Police responded to King Street in regards to a possible vagrancy complaint. Upon meeting with the complainant, Police were directed to a man sleeping across the river. Police met with the man and found that he was homeless and just warming up. Police offered him assistance, but he refused, advising that he was moving on shortly.

4:23 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a report of a suspicious circumstance that was observed at Dogwood Glenn over the course of the weekend. Police spoke with Vermont Department of Corrections officials in regards to the complainant, as the complaint stemmed from a 'Work-Crew' member. At this time, the incident does not appear to be criminal in nature, and no police action will be taken at this time.

8:06 p.m. – Theft - An officer responded to Norwich University for the report of a theft. The officer met with the victims and collected sworn written statements. This theft is part of an ongoing investigation and officers from other jurisdictions are also involved. The officer will attempt to locate the stolen property in conjunction with the ongoing investigation, and identify a suspect.

December 8

12:11 a.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - An officer on patrol observed a suspicious male walking around a closed business. The officer investigated the situation and determined the man was a transient. The man was released, after being cautioned about being around closed businesses.

1 p.m. - Search Warrant - Officers from the Northfield Police Department assisted by a captain of the Orange County sheriff's department executed search warrant at a residence on North Main Street. No contraband was seized at the time. However as a result of the pursuant investigation Nintendo Wii game system was recovered from a early November burglary in Northfield. The warrant was issued based on information gathered by a Barre Town Police officer.

2:38 p.m. - Suspicious Person/ Circumstance - Police received a report of suspicious activity at Plaza Drive. Police met with the complainant about the incident and gathered information about the report. Due to the fact that the incident involved a young child, the Vermont Department of Children & Families was notified so that a joint investigation into the incident could be conducted. Investigation continues.

7:13 p.m. - Agency Assistance - An officer received a request for assistance from a Barre City Officer. The Northfield officer met with a resident of South Main Street and retrieved some property from her, which she had taken from a business in Barre City. The property was turned over to the Barre City Police Department.

This is really unbelivable that police received a complaint of a video game that was taken from a back pack at the Boys and Girls club, this is not an indication for video game lovers...

Ref: To Dec. 3rd. Dog bites cyclist on Winch Hill rd. I was also chased by a white/yellow Lad dog on November 17 at approx. 4PM. I know this because I keep a training log
