Boys & Girls Club MembersWork To Stem Their Fears Of Common Stuff

Just before Christmas, 19 teens from the Boys & Girls Club participated in “Teen Fear Factor.”
Tasks ranged from pulling objects out of the “Box of horrors” (filled with mice, snakes and spiders, some fake, some real), to arm wrestling, holding your breath in the goldfish bowl and trying the “Fear Factor Foods.”
The bizarre foods included: crickets dipped in chocolate, octopus tentacles, limburger cheese, all natural dog biscuits, and sardines.
Points were awarded for top three arm-wrestlers, top three longest times for holding their breath, for every food item tried (and swallowed) and for daring to pick up items in the box of horrors.
Prizes awarded to the three winners included:
$10 in cash Gift Card from Subway
Gift Card from Video's & More.
Youth cheered one another on, grimaced at the food odors and textures, learned that octopus is not so bad to eat, gained new respect for themselves and each other and had a great time.
