David A. Funk, 39, Battled Cancer

WILLIAMSTOWN — David A. Funk, 39, formerly of Williamstown, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 2009, at the Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Ky., after a battle with cancer.

Born in Perth Amboy, N.J. on Jan. 2, 1970, he was the son of Phillip and Lois Funk.

He had a love for heavy metal music, which inspired him to play the guitar and piano. When he wasn't doing that, he was seen riding his Harley.

Survivors include his father Phillip Funk of South Royalton; one brother, Phillip Funk, Jr. of Parlin, N.J.; one sister, Cindy L. Kurutza of Tunbridge and four nieces.

He was predeceased by his mother, Lois Funk.

To honor his wishes, there was no funeral service.

In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society of the Chandler Medical Center, 800 Rose St., Lexington, Kentucky. 40508.

Arrangements were in the care of the Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home, 58 Summer St., Barre.
