Marauder Boys Take Milton In Hockey

The Maroon and White Skaters got goals from Jerry Passalaqua, Jacob Audet-Ricker and MIchael Goss as they upped their season record to 10-5.
Northfield High’s Ice Marauders made the long trip up to the border to Highgate to take on the Milton Yellow Jackets last Saturday and when the yellow bus headed back south it was the Yellow Jackets that had been stung. The victory put Northfield at 10-4 for the season.
Northfield skated to a 3-1 victory in a game where the final score was deceptive. “ You look at that score and it looks a lot closer than it was,” said Northfield coach Paul Clayton. “We played well. We did a lot of nice things. We had lots of chances and just missed on a lot of them.” Northfield out-shot Milton 36-26 and dominated the game. “Our defense was good. Our offense did some nice things and we got great goaltending from Bennett Augstoni,” said coach Clayton.
The three Northfield goals came off the sticks of three different players. Michael Goss, Jacob Audet-Ricker, and Jerry Passalacqua all beat Milton net minder Nikki-Lyn Lauziere for the three Northfield goals. Lauziere made 33 stops in addition to allowing the three Ice Marauder goals. All in all a very busy afternoon for the Milton net-Minder. At the other end of the small rink, Northfield’s Bennett Augustoni was busy himself as he turned in a 25 save performance.
Coach Clayton thought that this was a big Marauder win because of the size of the rink. “It’s good to get a win on a rink like this. We are spoiled by the size of Kreitzberg, It’s a lot bigger than many of the rinks we play on at away games. The small size sometimes makes it tough to work the plays you are used to. We practice on Kreitzberg, too and we have to adjust to play well on a small rink. We played very well on a small rink today, so we did a good job adjusting” coach Clayton said.
The Ice Marauder Boys have four games left in the regular season, two at home and two on the road. They will be at Essex to take on Mt.
Mansfield in a 3:00 p.m. game this Saturday, Jan 30 and will be back at home next Thursday at 8:30 p.m. when they host Peoples Academy of Morrisville.
