VSO WILL COME TO THE BARRE OPERA HOUSE FEBRUARY 7

The Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra, celebrating its 51st season, kicks off the new decade with “Slavic Soul, a Winter Concert” featuring works by Smetana, Tchaikovsky and Schumann. The performances will include: Smetana’s Moldau, a musical portrait of the Moldau river’s rivulets, cataracts, waterfalls and placid wanderings; Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor, Op. 64 from the funereal beginning to its triumphal climax; and, the Vermont Philharmonic Borowicz Memorial Student Scholarship winner, pianist Sarah Durham, as soloist in Robert Schumann’s Concerto, Opus 54 in A minor.
