Bill Lyon

2010-02-04 / Letters

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS MANY TIMES I have stated that people in the town of Northfield would never realize the value of Bill Lyon until he no longer works for the town. A man who gives 39 years of his life to a job and many, many times goes beyond the call of duty deserves better treatment than he received.

In the past when these positions have been vacated because of retirement or otherwise the knowledge of the former is passed on to the new Superintendent but since this position is no longer considered to be needed this will not happen.

The fact that the positions are being foregone for higher salaries for the foremen and the manager certainly is a point of interest to be considered. Where is the saving??

The manager made the recommendation and three members of the board followed. This seems to be another example of "transparency" gone afoul.
