BERLIN – Andrew Beattie, 21, of Williamstown has been arrested after a high speed chase along Route 302.

He was cited to appear in court in March to face charges of negligent operation, attempting to elude police, unlawful restraint and unlawful mischief, according to a Berlin Police Department news release.

Police said they tried to stop Mr. Beattie for a traffic violation but he fled and led officers on a chase through Barre City, Barre Town, Williamstown and Berlin.

Police were able to stop Mr. Beattie "before he injured himself, his passenger, or the citizens of the surrounding towns," police said.

Police officers from Barre City and the Washington County Sheriff's Department assisted Berlin police in arresting the suspect.
