Photo by Bill Croney, The Northfield News The Northfield High Girl’s hockey team improved their record to 12-4 with two home wins last week. On the friendly confines of Kreitzberg ice the Lady Ice Marauders swamped MSJ 10-2 last Wednesday night and on Saturday afternoon they thrashed North Country 4-1.

Against undermanned MSJ the Lady Ice Marauders kept the puck in the Green Wave’s zone for most of the first period, and before the crowd could get settled in their seats, Northfield had burst out to a 4-0 lead about four minutes into the game.

The scoring binge continued for the Ice Marauders throughout the rest of the lop sided contest. Northfield got goals from four different

players: Kristi Luce lit the lamp four times, Lindsey Hunt and Elana each found the back of the MSJ net twice and single goals by Keri Capron and Ashley White rounded out the Lady Ice Marauder’s scoring parade. They didn’t do it without help, though. Olivia Drown had a big night dishing out four assists. Northfield peppered the MSJ net with 41 shots during the game and at the other end of the ice Steph Morvan was called upon to make 14 saves for the Lady Ice marauders.

Against North Country on Saturday afternoon the game was closer but the result was the same. The usual suspects netted the goals for Northfield. Lindsey Hunt led the way with a pair of goals while Kristi Luce and Elana Van Arnam each tickled the twine on the Falcon net to give the Lady Ice Marauders the 4-1 win. Steph Morvan recorded six saves in the Northfield net as the Maroon & White Girl’s out-shot the Falcons 31-7.

The Lady Ice Marauders will be on the road at Rice this Saturday afternoon and will host Middlebury next Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. on Kreitzberg ice.
