Carl F. Dunican, 70
Carroll “Carl” F. Dunican, 70, died Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin. He was born in Bennington on December 24, 1939, the son of Alfred & Carolyn (Green) Dunican. He is a graduate of Northfield High School, class of 1959.
He served over 22 years in the Vermont Army National Guard.
Carl married Reta Dickinson on September 17, 1960 in Roxbury. They lived a couple years on Pleasant Street after they first married and the past forty seven years in their family home on Route 12A in Northfield.
Carl was long time employee of Sodexo Food Service at Norwich University’s Mess Hall in Northfield.
He was a 32nd degree Mason, past master and member of Dewitt Clinton Lodge #15 in Northfield, a Grand Officer of the Vermont Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and a JCI Senator. Carl enjoyed working in his shop doing machinist work, tinkering on his bulldozer, and he was a frequent volunteer caller at the weekly Dewitt Clinton Lodge Bingo games.
Survivors include his wife, Reta of Northfield; two sons, David & Douglas Dunican both of Northfield; a brother, William Dunican of Statesville, North Carolina; a daughter in-law, Rae Dunican of Randolph; six grandchildren, Angela Hansen, Melissa Dunican, Michael Dunican, Steven Dunican, Megan Maxham, and Mallory Davis; and many nieces and nephews. His daughter, Tina Dunican predeceased him.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, February 10th at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Northfield.
