Bill Lyon

TO THE EDITOR: THE NORTHFIELD NEWS HAVING SPENT most of my life as a Vermonter in Barre and now for the summer in Roxbury I have to comment on the story concerning the firing of Bill Lyons as reported in you recent paper. Kudos to your paper for the reporting the story so all can see what kind of representatives they have elected.

One starts to wonder from all the "nontransparency" in all forms of our government from Federal to State to Local how our elected officials can blatantly ignore their elected duty to represent their constituents in and ethical and sound manner. No wonder people are fed up with our elected officials.

If the town were a business and it's employees in charge acted as the selectmen and trustees have on this matter I would think they would be the ones canned! There is the rub. Except for the embarrassment of that meeting, I assume no other action will be taken and like so many other instances that have been reported about those in charge of many government programs that really screw up they don't seem to be made accountable for their errors.
