Downtown Northfield About 1939

Gib Knapp, chief of police salutes Hilyard Seaver as he’s about to cross Main Street in Northfield about 1939. Note the vault alarm above the Northfield Savings Bank to the left on the white front three story building. At the end of the store run was The Little Cafe owned by Homer Jerd. Also note the Rexall Drug sign above Desparte’s drug store and the What Not Gift Shop sign, the store owned by Nellie Ketchum was in the basement under the drug store at the time.

The one thing that fascinates

The one thing that fascinates me most about many of these old photos of Northfield is the bounty of trees. I wish there were being replaced.
