Williamstown Stores Beset By Burglaries Again

A raft of burglaries have been reported in Williamstown.
At the Pump and Pantry two masked men broke in only to meet the owner, Sam Adams, who was still there after closing.
Sam told the Times Argus that he was in the back of his convenience store late Saturday night when he heard breaking glass. He walked to the front of the store and saw two masked men in hooded sweatshirts breaking into his store by smashing the glass out of the front doors, he said. One man was coming through the second set of doors, while another man was still in the entry way.
He told Thatcher Moats at the Times Argus that he yelled at them and they took off running.
They tried to break into the Depot and Main store also and got caught in the act by Noel Evangelista who was just coming to work when he found them rummaging around his office.
It looked like it may have been the same team who broke into the Pump and Pantry but Mr. Evangelista said that he saw only one burglar wearing a hooded sweatshirt and he didn’t get a very clear view.
He added that in the last 17 years since he has owned Depot & Main, he has been burglarized time and again.
There have been so many that he doesn’t leave any cash in the store at night.
Just last summer, tow brothers were arrested after breaking into Depot & Main and making off with cigarettes and beer. Marsha Motors was also burglarized over the weekend. In that incident, the burglars attempted to get the safe open but failed.
