Richard and Valerie Beaudet owners of the old Barre Firehouse and Ladder 1 Grill had a replica made of the controversial Barre Firehouse Weathervane that they plan to return to the pedestal where it stood guard for almost 100 years on the firehouse hose tower of their building.

Right around the time the Beaudets purchased the firehouse, the City received an offer to buy the Weathervane that was taken down in the 1980's. A number of people expressed to the Beaudets that Weathervane belonged on top of the firehouse. Valerie and Richard decided to have a replica made and found Ed Waskiewicz of Westfield, MA who makes custom weathervanes. “Once we realized it was in our budget, we gave Ed the go ahead and have kept this secret for almost a year now.” said Richard

The Weathervane was finished February 22nd. It is 3' long and is made of copper and brassl. The Beaudets plan to have members of The Barre Fire Department assist them with returning it to it's perch. “This is our way of giving back to the community and firefighters for their support.” said Valerie

The Weathervane will be unveiled at Saturday's Irish Heritage Days parade on March 13th, then it will be on display at the firehouse in The Ladder 1 Grill and Pub. A celebration is planned for sometime in May with Live Music and a party when the Weathervane will be placed back on the tower
